I would suggest that a lot of those at the bottom of the barrel are dupes...

Although this doesn't mean they are even active dupes, since their exp. hasn't gone up, it still bothers me...

Anyone know who these guys are? Otherwise, we should start making a dupe list.

You may be right Aeturneus. The only one I can vouch for is Windstar (who is Urban Ranger)...but the 6 listed below him? You've got me.

Except for Swiss and us most of those look like dupes.

Well, thanks to some complete idiot, things got a lot worse in the duping situation last night. I was attacked by about 15 dupes in a row, who chewed through almost 500,000 worth of my exploitative and defensive assets before getting bored. I've talked to Dan about this issue, and he closed the game and is currently tracking down specific IP addresses. We should see accounts being deleted throughout the rest of the week as he begins to figure out who is responsible for this.

I was quite amazed to see one called teedo756. That's almost uncanny.

I don't think tracking IPs will do any good because there are too many compounding factors, for example:

            • people who use the same proxy sever

            • people from the same ISP

            • people from the same company, as they are connected to the Net via the same router that is very likely to have a very narrow range of addresses (many more smaller companies than large ones that can afford large blocks of real IP addresses).

I think the only way duping can be stopped is for Dan to close the game and create accounts for those of us who have registered. This will create more work for him but that's only the fair and foolproof way AFAIK.

I don't think it is teedo that is duping. Teedo756 attacked me, and since teedo757 and I have been working together for a while, I doubt that he would attack our own corp.

+ I have talked with him and he doesn't seem like a very malicious fellow to me

The game is closed. Do you mean that dan should rebang the game to clean it out? I personally think that this game can be saved. There are some other things involved than IP addresses, which you make valid points about, eg. most of the dupes are using the same password, according to Dan, and will be cleaned out as far as I know. I don't think anyone except me has suffered a massive assault from the dupes, and I'm willing to bear it rather than go through the boredom of rebuilding from scratch yet again. The thing to do now is just let the sysop do his job and see how things look in a week.

[Edit - Clever tactic UR, but thankfully I was able to get back into position.]

Dupes have made this game extremely challenging... I sincerely hope it isn't broken for me.

Closed as in not letting anybody create new accounts. There was this new guy, wiper3 I believe, online last night. A friend of teedo757's, I guess.

As for teedo he seems okay. I remember running across him one night and he said hello to me.

Maybe somebody else found your hideout and wants your base? That seems the only reason I can think of right now.

oh and the game is closed at this moment, in case anyone is still wondering. Wiper isn't a brand new account, he appeared yesterday b4 dan closed the game.

Great, now it's starting to bug me too. Teedo756 and Armstrong were the two today, there were others yesterday. No one podded me, but the deployed fighters killing is getting old, esp. if it comes from dupes.

I don't think any dupes can pod you, Uncle Enzo
