    Aeturneus, is the Halcyon game up and operational? I keep getting the following error when I try to connect:

    Sorry, Could not connect: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect
    You are either behind a firewall or Java Telnet Applet has a broken configuration. If unsure, please contact the administrator of the web page

    I think he is trying to fool around with his computer. Which would mean that it is turned off for a while everyday, which means that NOBODY can get back on.

      Sorry folks. Had some problems with a new cd burner, but the system appears to be stable now, so the server is back up and running

        Hmmm, I still show it as down. Still getting the same error.

                      Aeturneus, your TW game is *soooo* slow - anything that can be done? It's taking me like 3 minutes to move from home sector to the stardock (no joking).

                      Just wondering (I need to hurry and defeat Wittlich!)

                        my ISP is 'upgrading' their network, so there has been a network wide slowdown over the last few days. When did this lag start?

                        I am looking into my local usage of network resources... it looks like one of my brothers was running a "Morpheus" network hub on a different system, which could also be the problem. I'm turning off his file sharing right now.

                        Regardless, there is a big upgrade coming as soon as my ISP is finished their general network upgrade. I'm moving to a corporate level of service, and that means double the bandwidth. Hardware upgrades should occur in 2 months, at which time the server will be running on some kind of amd smp and perhaps a scsi setup.

                            it seems to have speeded up on my end quite a lot today. Let me know if this still a problem in future.

                              Aeturneus, I think your ISP is finished upgrading. I played my turns this morning, and it zipped right along - no slow-down what so ever.
