Well, IMHO, to keep this game exciting (so we can actually find each other), I say that we keep the sectors under 1,000. Any recommendations? I would say 400-600 would make for a game with lot's of interaction, 1,000 for a game with more time to build up our "forces" before we start stepping on each other's toes.

As another thought -- anyone know where we can try and drum up other players?

I think 1,000 Sectors would be fair.

1,000 sectors it is, then. I just want to officially lay claim to the 700s, then. =) Lucky 777, don't let me down!

I think Dan is waiting for us to get our act together and come up with some settings for him to implement.

I heard about this game back in high school when it was
played via BBS (before I got my first computer). Sounded
            really cool.

Is it too late to get in on this? I'm interested.

I might even be able to find some extra players
(not making any promises, but maybe some of
my non-Apolyton friends would be interested).

Oh, and must I download anything?

Hi Jules No, it's not too late to sign up - just list what your Apolyton Forum name is and the name you want in TW2002 in this thread - Your name will be added to the begining of this thread. As far as your non-Apolyton friends go - Sure, the more the merrier...however, since this will be an Apolyton Game, your friends will need to join the Apoyton Forum (like you did). The reason for this requirement is that MULTI's WILL NOT BE TOLERATED! Each player WILL ONLY HAVE ONE account/login/player - enough said.

As far as any downloads being REQUIRED to play TradeWars 2002 - the answer is NO. There is a program which assists you in pairing up ports, but for myself, I've never had much success with it.

Currently the Game start-up is in a holding pattern waiting for Dan (from Firaxis Games) to rebang the server...

                Great.

I'm sure they wouldn't mind having to join Apolyton.
                Doesn't cost anything.

Is this a PC-only deal? One of my friends has a Mac.

Hmmm, is the game compatible with a MAC Operating System? Good question. I myself use Windows 2000 .... does anyone know if TW2002 is supported for Mac Systems?

Well, I already sent Jules a pm to explain this, but since Wittlich asks I will post here.

TW is a telnet server. You can connect to a TW server with any telnet client. Macs have telnet clients, and so do linux boxes... in fact, they are universal. You can even connect to the TW server online, using the Java telnet terminal. Check the usefull url's thread for the goods on that one.

                    Hope that cleared things up
