    Server has been rebanged.

    Here are the particulars:

    4000 sectors
    Terran colonists: 2500 per day
    Max ports 1600, starting ports ~1200
    Alien traders ON
    Ferrengi OFF
    Photons ON

    max 3 people per corp


    400 turns per day
    200 minutes per day
    triple elimination: 3 deaths & you're out.
    inactive players booted after 7 days

    This game will allow new players for 14 days, after which it will become closed, this will help prevent multiple accounts and will also keep people from rejoining after being eliminated.


    Winner is the last man (or corporation) standing.

    The only other rule I'm going to enforce is that there are to be no alter-egos. If I catch anyone doing this you'll be ejected and banned. I don't really have the time to enforce a "no backstab" rule so I'll leave it up to you guys to internally police each other and enforce your own code of honor =)

    Have fun. As I get time I'm hoping to add some scripts to the server to keep track of how everyone is doing. Here's to a fair, fun tournament game. May the best trader win.

    As always, let me know ASAP if these settings are not satisfactory and I'll see what I can do to rectify things.

    Couple questions:

    what is the port regen rate?

    what is the dead end percentage?

        Two things --

        1) Thanks, Dan, for all of the time and work that you have put into keeping this game going for us (and going, and going, ...)

        2) Is the game currently down? I cannot connect, and the script
        showing the leaders is still dated from the 8th.

          Server is back up now, hopefully my new script will put the server back up if it's down at any time.

          The "leaders" script won't reset until someone views scores from inside the game. A file is written out whenever someone views scores, and that's what drives the leaders script.

          PS, in answer to earlier questions, I can't remember off-hand what the port regen rate is but I bumped it a bit from the default.

          One-way warps were set to 7%.

                    The leaders script doesn't seem to be working; I have viewed traders within the game, looked at the high scores etc. and the script hasn't updated.

                      These settings make it VERY difficult to try and go evil. From my experience last game and my reading on the net there are a number of settings that are important to evils.

                      Turns per day: more is better, most guides assume 800-1000 when assessing evil equality. Our game 400.

                      Photons: Evils prefer none. Our game on.

                      Steal/Rob %: lower is better most guides assume 50%. Our game 100%.

                      Now I realize the turns are probably low due to server concerns and photons are enabled by popular demand, but if you could lower the %'s that might encourage some people (including me) to go evil so everybody isn't good!

                        Hmm, if that's true (about lower being better), then I guess a case can be made for changing it (since we do want this to be a reasonably balanced game). Besides, it will be really hard to get my ISS if there is no one to post a reward against!
