  • So, who's still active in this game? Roll call!

With the signing off of Hutak, and the disappearance
of at least 70 traders from the listing, who's still on and
    kicking?

I know I'm here, what about everyone else???

This game is for all puposes dead You smashed Really Useful Group, so it's just Apolyton and Burbel. They have all the people now. In a month there only be a handful of traders left, but that's how these games go and why games get rebanged. You get anywhere from a few weeks to a month of intensive play, depending on server linits, and the game shakes down to a few mega-corps ans mega-traders. Plus the limits on this game made the shake out process quicker, a 1000 sectors don't go very far.

I would also say that the presence of *so* many dupes also
hurt things a great deal... I don't know how many actual
players we had, but, looking at the listing, I would say
probably around 40-50, and a good number of them have
      moved on...

From what I see there are just about 15-20 players active now.

        I'm one of them.

                Well folks, I'm still kicking

However, I am getting ready to move to San Franscisco, CA. I will only be able to play until this Sunday, then I'm going on a road-trip from NC to CA...and I don't know how long it will be until I'm able to play again.

I'm playing as well, but the competition is getting near to non-existent nowadays which is bad.

Marko, I say if AC has the kind of firepower I think it has, you guys should just go ahead and wipe out your main competitors instead of dragging the game along.

Ofcourse if you have competitors, which IMO could only be Burbel, and Darkman's Corp. , whom you cannot yet completely wipe out, then there is still some life left in the game. If you are not destroying your competitors even though you can, you are just prolonging the game for no darn reason.

I dont mind either way. I'm going to give it a shot at building myself up, but I know that I wont be able to challenge the big corps because they will most definitely grow faster than me, because I am a single player and the corps have multiple players.

Besides that, there aren't any colonists to be found on Terra anymore, and I bet AC has a few planets with several million colonists already.

Well, I know that I have a few colonists, and am in the process
of upgrading my citadel, so I'm still going at it, too.

Maybe we should start some anti-monopoly legislation against
Apolyton, and break them up into a number of smaller corps?
That way, we can foster competition in the marketplace!

                      Just a thought, of course.

Well it's almost impossible to really wipe somebody out. I now cloak at night, in a different sector each night. Without photons the only thing you can do it trap somebody with fighters, but you'd have to get everybody in a corp at once, or else the trapped player could be rescued by outside resources. You can also hope the player doesn't play for a few days and their cloak fails, or the server dies while they are playing and are left stranded. With the current server reliability that has almost happened to me a few times.

I was completely wiped out, and would have been happy to stop the game then, but this way I get to play around with being evil. I was curious about it before and I am having fun seeing what I can do. I had wanted to play around with advanced citadels too, but my previous stupidity and the lack of colonists has made that basically impossible.

I'm still around, but these days i'm mostly trying to find colonists besides trading. They're scarce!

A more modest, realistic, and achievable goal is to encourage the idea that one may be mistaken. Doubt is humbling and constructive; it leads to rational thought in weighing alternatives and fully reexamining options, and it opens unlimited vistas.

Well, I'm out. I never had much time to get into the game rules, and i quickly realised that if I wanted to be successful in that game, I had to spend lots of hours in it to compete.

I believe it was a great game, once. But nowadays, I can't feel that way.
