  • What the hell it's only a game

The Empire has destroyed Apolyton Corps class M planet Utopia in sector 652 with their level 2 citadel almost finished. We had originally wanted to forge an alliance with Apolyton, but they ignored our diplomatic message.

Sector 652 is now open for business. When I left it was free of defenses, go nuts everybody there are still 3 planets left to be destroyed.

Hutak, you can give me the one million in two payments, or just transfer 500k to the accounts the two of us in The Empire.

The decision to launch the attack was basically the subject phrase. I feel no ill will towards Apolyton because they haven't done much to me, although I was surprised they IGNORED my diplomacy.

and some people call the Apolyton Corporation opportunist...

btw, i fail to see how you destroy a base by leaving 3 planets and a ship untouched....

Looks like Apolyton Corp Struck back. I just read Marko Polo has been doing some damage to Corp #5.

and if anyone tries to help The Empire, we'll stop minding our own business and start hunting them down!

Garth, seriously. Did you actually think that you could get away from your little attack just like that? We have known your base location for a long time but left you in peace as you stated yourself.

If you had kept the 'status quo', you and Darkman would have enjoyed your well defended planet with quasar cannon completed in two days. Now you and your corp lost EVERYTHING.

Finally, a warning to all others who are thinking of some kind of vile actions towards us: we know practically all the base locations in the game. If you give us a reason - well, you know what's gonna happen to you.

Well those other planets were pretty new so I figured some of the other traders could take them.

As for my downfall, I expected that, but you gotta shake things up to have fun!
edit: Yeah I could have sat and done nothing and been pretty safe and I would have if Mark had answered my PM. Why didn't you guys answer me? But since you hit all the other corps I figured I was next and so I thought I'd be the one to actually do some damage to you guys. If I wanted to sit around and do nothing I can do that on my couch

If you are willing Marko Polo, could you PM me about what kinds of losses you took against my planet? I am curious about how planetary defense works in the game.

Interpretation: your Scout got destroyed by nav hazard before you got to finish your job..

Lame excuse. You really have an peculiar way to show your good will to our corp. I'd say that your attack was just bad strategic thinking of your corp. If you played your cards right you'd waited for your quasar cannon to be complete and leaving more figs defending the planet. Now you played like an opportunist gambler laying all your corp's property in one bet. After all, you just destroyed a planet which we didn't even created and none of your corp members. The other planets were just worth one day turns. No biggie. Okay, taking out 6t figs hurt but that drained your figs as well. Furhter, while we fly with our intact ships, you two have to start from the scratch.

Well, you had 600+ figs on planet set to 50% offensive and 50% defensive. When I landed there, half of your figs destroyed some of my shields and the other half needed to be attacked. After that I could easily detonate the whole place. I didn't manage to save the log of my attack so I can't tell you my fig/shield losses. Those were not so high however as my ISS has 1.5 offense/defense ratio.

Needless to say, your corp is now our enemy number one (at least in this game ) We'll do whatever we can that your corp has no future in the current game. Your best strategic decision would now be quit playing and wait for the next reset.

Actually, I didn't have enough fighters left to kill all your population so I used a spare ship and blew the planet with me on it.

After all, you just destroyed a planet which we didn't even created and none of your corp members.
All of your corp members except you hide in Fed space all the time.

Yeah this may have been a colossal blunder, but what the hell eh? There were two of us in our corp and 4 in your corp. As the game went on you should have progressed twice as fast as us leaving us further behind as the game went on. Are you saying we would have had a better chance after a few more weeks of you guys making twice as much as us?

Everybody talked about wanting to do damage to Apolyton, but nobody was willing to anything about it. I was, and I wiped us out doing it.

so I can't tell you my fig/shield losses. Those were not so high however as my ISS has 1.5 offense/defense ratio.

I thought fighters in the citadel were supposed to fight at 4-1? That's one main reason I attacked now. If you got 6t fighters fighting at 4-1 once your lvl2 cit was built the game would really be over!

If other corps follow up and strike your holdings they now have a chance. If you guys still win, then you deserve a "job well done" salute and are the unquestioned masters of the universe and we can restart.

Your best strategic decision would now be quit playing and wait for the next reset.
I may do just that! At least you aren't saying you will carry a vendetta over to the next game, that would be sore winning on your part

More info for the newbies: When you have a level 2 citadel, offensive fighters get 2:1 odds and defensive fighters get 3:1 odds. Therefore, in this situation, where they had 600 fighters at 50% reaction, 300 figs would attack doing 600 damage to a 1:1 ship (400 vs an ISS) and the remaining defenders would require 900 figs from a 1:1 ship (or about 600 from an ISS).
