Yes and I told Javier to get ahold of you Manolo, in case he needed a password. His hex editing skills may fix this and a big pillaging problem that Pap1723 is having in 2194 Days of War Giga Map.
Thanks!

I try to replicate the problem that Patient English has with pillage, and I can not. After breaking the
English password (sorry, I need to do that in order to test the pillage ), I can load the game (I use the
last United Province's file) and pillage without problems (I get the dialog!), so the problem isn't related
with the savegame, I think.
So, I need more information, and I ask Patient English (well, and Darius on 2194) for
- Tell me what SO they're using
- Tell me what Civ2 Version (Cedric's Patch? Civ2 1.3?) they're using
- Send me their game.txt file (not the scen's one, but the one in Civ2 main directory)
- Send me their scen's game.txt file and the other txt files
- Any other info you think that is related to the problem.
The only way I have in order to not get the dialog is to delete the @PILLAGEMENU in Game.txt file. Had you
tried to move @PILLAGEMENU to the start of Game.txt?

Thanks for doing this. I can send you all that info, if I know what SO stands for. I have used FW to develop, BTW, so people who don't have MGE (quite a lot, especially in Europe) can still play. The only one of my scenarios developed in MGE is my current project: Colonies IV.
I emailed both you and Javier so you guys can talk.

I have an idea...
I used to have problems negotiating with the AI in some scenarios, after the intial greting text the negotiations where terminated witout notice (when the box with my choises was supposed to popup I was thrown back to the main world view) I was able to get rid of this problem by detoggling the negotiation "background images" (don't remember what civ calsl them), ie the herald and the graphics which show the king portrait, some techs, etc.
When I detoggled that in the game options things worked fine, I'm wondering if this could be related?
Again just like here all players didn't have this problem, regardless of thier options some got the full negotiations.

Siege of Paris lifted!!!
As the english sacrificed their momentum, not daring to storm our glorious capital city of Paris the French high command, having regrouped thier forces decided to strike back with full force.
The fighting was heavy but in the end the French royal army was victorious and all brittish troops beseiging Paris was totaly anihilated.
3 batteries of siege guns where found in the northern trenches, all of which where destroyed.
However the french royal army has been unable destroy the trenches themselves as the fighting involved in freeing them up took a heavy tolll upon our forces. However, one grenadier regiment has been sent into the trenches to make it harder for any brittish attempt to recapture the trenches and reuse them.
The French army is confident that the brittish expiditionary force is going to be thrown back into the sea from whence it came!
Furthermore the bahamas islands have been incorporated fully into the french empire now.

John, this is EXACTLY the problem I described long ago, when we started, and it was NEVER resolved.
Do you (Steve is it?) have this problem in any other scenario?
I have seen this only with Kobayshi's scenarios, besides John's that is.
I believe the problem is linked with fooling with ability to use diplomats/spies, but I can't prove it.
Henrik, what exactly did you change?
Getting back to John, I use MGE exclusivly, there are several differences between FW and MGE, you should really build scenarios only in MGE (I had a long talk with Exile about this), it seems the FW AI is not as aggressive, and the x2+ objectives ONLY work in FW or lower.
If you make colonies in FW, the AI civs will not expand nor attack as agressivly, better to use MGE.
I don't know about the pillage thing, oddly enough, it's never come up in games I have played in.
I believe Saddam because his position is backed up by logic and reason...David Floyd i'm an ignorant greek...MarkG

Chris, no all the other scenarios Ive played it has not come up. I have not played any of Kobyashi's however. And the funny thing is that it seems like an isolated problem, Im the only one I know of in two other games that has this problem. After Javier gets done with pillaging I may have him look into it because he seems to be our resident programming whizz, at least the one I know and like the best.

Graphic Options->uncheck Diplomacy Screen (as well as animated heralds I think, though I guess one can't exist witout the other).
I used to have this problem in Exiles Imperialism 1870 scenario.
As for developing scenarios under fw/mge there is no difference except for the fact that "major" objectives are counted as no objectives by MGE.
The AI is indeed different in the versions but it won't affect the scenario, if a scenario is played with FW the AI will act as the FW AI (less agressive and backstabbing) and if it's played with MGE it'll play as it does in MGE (no treaty will be worth anyting to it), regardless of which verison the scenario is created with.
However it is probably still wise to playtest with MGE as that is what most people will be using (and the only version that can play pbems).
The French Army counterattacked at Amiens (North of Paris). The siege of Paris has recommenced. More heavy artillery is on its way, and three whole divisions are now dug in north of the French Capital.
An exploratory attack on Metz was easily repulsed, so no further troops were wasted on that direction.
One French and one English Grenadier regiment killed, one French & one English Dragoon regiment also destroyed.
Two more French mining villages wiped out in the continuing chevauchee.
