In Sardinia was prohibited dued to a judicial ordnance... a masked guy shooted to a major, and "The blue lady" was never able to discover who he really was. That's because they were all dressed as "mammuttones"... Throubles lasted for about thirty years or so. Now they can use mask, but one of them, on turnation, must unveil the face.
Personally, i dislike Carnival tradition... The only time i put on a mask ( 'twas Davy Crockett, and i was eleven years old... ) i nearly put the fire to the whole school...
