  • about the use of Spanish in this forum

in the last few week we haven´t used the english at all in this forum

I don´t know why but the use of English has decreased, we are limitating then the visit of the non-spaniards that use to visit us before like Henrik and Chris62

also, I like to post here in english because I have a chance to use and practice my english,

I don´t know if the other spaniards speak english, (not that is my mother language ) what do you say??

    That you are right

The important thing is to keep the languages separated. If a thread starts in Spanish let's continue in Spanish. But if it is started in English, please do not post in Spanish! (I admit i've done it too a good number of times).

yes, and we should try to start as many thread in english as possible, specially those about histroy, I heard that Chris has a master in history, I´m sure that he has pretty interesting things to say from a non-spaniard point of view.

and I would like to know about the scn that Henrik is working on!!

      come back guys!!!!!

Well I might post a preview or "secret project" thread in this forum or the sleague forum in a few days...

I can give you one screenshot though (although I cannot guarantee that it's obvious what it depicts) :

Hmm, this looks like a very ambitious project, Henrik! Looking forward to see more of it!

Re Spanish: I think I only post in Spanish in those threads that have no "foreign" (so to speak) presence. At least that's what I try.

              Romperé la regla aquí!

Actually, I have discussed this with Jay bee a few times, and he can tell you my feeling about this is as follows:

I can post all over Apolyton, but the fellows who only speak spanish have no other home than here, on this forum.

I think it's unfair to them (posters who are Spanish speakers only) to limit the use of language here to suit me, although I very much appreciate that all you fellows are willing to do so.

My much decreased posting of late here is due to the recent attacks on NY, more then any other factor.

Mis ayudas de la esposa con las traducciones, as my Spanish is limited greatly, and we both have been devistated by the attack.

My recent appearence in the Civ-3 forum was by request, and I was glad to help, but is was aggrivating to argue with people who are set in their minds in a certain way.
Believe me, I don't enjoy becalled a racist, a fool, and several other choice comments which aern't worth mentioning.

Thank you, Chris. As you know, it's our pleasure to have you as a member and friend of this forum, and those of us who can speak English (if only a little) have enjoyed and will enjoy as many English discussions which you take part in as we can have.

Yes, that wasn't nice at all, and I'd like to thank you for doing the right thing.

Those who called you racist owe you an apology and they could make good use of a respect lesson.

I agree with Chris, there is room enough on Apolyton to speak english. Spanish should not be avoided on my account! Altho it is very considerate of you to use english to include those of us who speak it better than we do spanish.

I can only read simple spanish, and know no colloquial uses whatsoever (except huevos as... ). I'll participate where I can, whichever language is used! As you may know, recently I responded to alf with a long post that he could not read, and Fiera translated it for him (muchas gracias!). Cooperation like this can get us thru many of the language barriers.

I agree with this, what I stated in the other thread was that I probably did visit less becouse of it (since I dont understand what yo are saying ).
It is, after all primarily your (the spanish speakers) forum, not mine (although I am happy to contribute in the subjects that I understant, I dont think you should keep non-english speakers away becouse of the ones who dont speak spanish).

                              Triple post!

Alf, I have gotten the impression that you misunderstand what Shaka and Chris are saying. As a matter of fact, Chris in particular seems to actually agree with you
