Negroponte has fallen! Its Italian garrison succumbed to the pounding given it by the Turkish fleet. Now only Modon in the far west of the Peloponessus holds out against the overwhelming might of the admirals of the Porte. Even so, this town has been closely invested by Turkish guard units which had been marching overland through the morea. The threats of Pope Leo X have been brushed aside by emissaries of the Sultan. Near Pressburg, the Imperial dogs were lured out of their defenses long enough for Janizzary forces to inflict a sharp defeat, though fighting continues. The Grand Vizier's successful ploy has earned him a new cognomen. He is now surnamed the Vulture. More ships are daily joining the swelling Turkish fleets.

    Inshallah!

HRH Charles reports that their has been mutiny in the ranks! Hotheads took it upon themselves to chase the defeated infidels, and have paid the price for their rashness. We still hold the town and the citidel of Pressburg, and it shall not fall. His Majesty is delighted that Holy Spain has promised to destroy the godless turks at sea. "The fine men of Iberia will deal with these devils, and give them the fate that all heathen deserve", his Majesty has said. In other news of the empire, the moderization of the military is nearly complete, and more merchants look to open trade routes with the crowned heads of Europe. <> I forgot to hit ctrl N last turn, so the AI took it upon itself to move my units outside of Pressburg, Exile. File sent to Fiera(Spain).

Rumours have it that a large punishment expedition against the Berberian pirates is being planned by His Majesty Don Juan. A new kind of ship, a mighty Galeasse, has been built in the Naples shipyard. The King has already stated that he won't tolerate Muslim ships in the Mediterranean...

All is well in the kingdom of France, although omens in the form of people noticing the entire world freezing up all around them have been reported from all around the nation. Possibly time entered a large standstill nobody knows for how long.

The Turkish commander in the Morea has delivered an ultimatum to the defenders of the Venetian port of Modon; Surrender or be destroyed! Ottoman fleets are massing in the waters south of the Peloponese. Swift scouting vessels based on the Ionian coast have been seen cruising in the waters north of Candia. Word has it that the Knights of Saint John on Rhodes, last remnant of Outremer in the Levant, is preparing for the inevitable assault by the troops and ships of the Sublime Porte.

HRH Charles is pleased to annouce that the hated Turks have moved away from Pressburg! "We will kill all those devils that come near our domains" his Majesty has said. In other Imperial news, bandit turkish horsemen continue to terrorize the countryside, but refuse to engage our armed forces. Long live the Hapsburgs! • Pope Leo X has agreed to support our Holy Crusade project against the Berberian States with a 75 gold tribute. It is been said that His Majesty expected a more entusiasthical support, but King Don Juan is a good catholic and won't complain about the crazy sums that the Holy See expends in art and other mundane activities...

                        • The Porte has landed Turkish troops on Crete and invested the town of Candia by land and sea. Turkish auxiliaries have denied the hinterland of the Morea to the defenders of Modon, now under a rigorous siege. Throughout the lands subject to the Sultan of all the Turks, forges ring and the smiths and armorers are hard at work. Ghazis loyal to Stamboul have cut off and are ravaging the outlying districts of Bucharesti, while similar ghazi-raids have successfully cut off the Imperial city of Pressburg, preventing the flow of reinforcements and supplies to the surrounded town. Turkish trade with the Barbary kingdoms has been stepped up, and is now rendering enhanced revenues to the coffers of the Porte.

                            • Rumours about war against the Infidels increase, as people place their bets on which will be the first target of the Christian troops, Granada or the African pirate Kingdoms? The Pontificial Tribute has arrived to Spain with no delay.

                              • HRH Charles, is confused by the lack of news from foriegn lands. It seems that apart from the great Spanish empire, the other powers don't seem to have anything to report. Of great import, his Majesty annouces yet another victory for our armed forces! The Turkish calvery was crushed along the banks of the Danube by our brave Musketeers! "We have dispatched a great many heathens to meet their maker, and let the almighty have mercy on their wicked souls" his Majesty has said. In other Imperial news, our merchants continue to seek out new markets for our fine trade goods. Long live the Hapsburgs! By order, HRH Charles, Holy Roman Emperor.<>File sent to Fiera(Spain).
