liberation like Simon Bolivar and José de San Martín. Led mostly by Spanish-descendant 'criollos', the [Dragoons]
were a true symbol of prestige, and its officers would later be part of the military governments which ruled most
countries in the region througout the 19th century.

Está bien buena la idea

Le pondría como líder científico a Mario Molina, mexicano que obtuvo el premio Nóbel de Química mas o menos por el 96.

También bajaría a Santa Cruz como líder militar, ya que él cobra importancia en el 1830 más menos. También deberías poner a José Martí, que fue bastante importante en Centroamérica.

Buenos Aires supongo yo, aunque tenga más población que Santiago, debería ir después porque fue fundadda en 1536, pero prontamente deshabitada hasta 1580 cuando fue refundada. Quizás sería bueno ponerle a Santiago, Santiago de Chile o Santiago del Nuevo Extremo o Santiago de Nueva Extremadura para que se diferencie de Santiago española (de Compostela). Brasilia debería ir al último ya que es de 1960. Es preferible que sean ordenadas por año de fundación que por importancia, pienso yo. Por ejemplo en la civilización egipcia El Cairo está al último porque es la más reciente, aunque sea las más poblada de África.

¿El Dragoon puede atacar varias veces en un turno? Podría ser una característica.

Si las ordeno por años, casi todas las primeras ciudades serian Mexicanas o Peruanas

Y pues la verdad se me hace algo dificil ordenar las ciudades por antiguedad por la dificultad de obtener esos datos para las 36 ciudades de la lista.

^By the end of the 18th century, most hispanic colonies in the New World had grown into self-sustaining entities,
increasingly burdened by higher taxes and mounting repression by their mother countries. The American and French
revolutions during that period provided the first spark of inspiration for independence, but it was not until the
Napoleonic Wars, and the subsequent occupation of Spain by Napoleon's forces which made revolution at home
possible. In most cases, this was ironically begun by Spanish descendants, known as 'criollos' who were highly
resentful of foreign control and had their own ambitions of power.
^ Revolution first broke out in South America, with revolts almost simultaneously in present-day Venezuela and
Argentina. Among the revolutionaries, the most well-Known is undoubtedly Simon Bolivar. Nicknamed the "The
Liberator", Bolivar was a European-educated son of wealthy landowners who since his youth had vowed to rid the
continent of Spanish presence. In 1810 he and a group of patriots declared independence from Spain. Initially
defeated, he came back in 1813 and took control of an Army which was to fight their colonial masters across the
continent. In conjunction with others like José de San Martín, Antonio José de Sucre and Bernardo O'Higgins, most
of South America was liberated from Spanish rule during the first quarter of the century.
^ In Mexico, revolution was started shortly afterwards by a group of 'criollo' priests, the first of which was
Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla. Under his leadership, an army of mostly indian peasants was raised and quickly gained
control of the center of the country after declaring their independence in 1810. They were immediately confronted
by Spanish forces which ultimately defeated the rebellion. However, many more independence fighters rose in their
wake and by 1821 after a long and bloody war, Mexico had achieved independence. Brazil, the other great nation of
Latin America, achieved a largely bloodless revolution from their mother country, Portugal, thanks to José Bonifácio
who was later crowned Emperor Pedro I.
^ Independence soon led to major problems, as the young nations of Latin America found themselves ruled by
powerful 'caudillos' or strong-men and unable to finance their own development due to political ineptness and

^severe military interference. Foreign intervention was another major problem, especially in Mexico, Central America
and the Carribbean who found themselves under the gun of an ascendant United States with considerable imperialist
ambitions in the region. In the south, wars among Latin American nations were not uncommon, the most notable of
which was the Pacific War between Chile and a Peruvian-Bolivian alliance and the War of the Triple-Alliance which
pitted Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay against Paraguay.
^ The 20th century saw a number of socio-political developments take hold. Massive European immigration in
countries like Argentina and Brazil severely changed the demographic outlook of the region. The first steps of
industrialization also took place, as railroads and factories began slowly springing up in the larger countries.
In Mexico, a Revolution began in 1910 to oust dictator Porfirio Díaz and resulted in the one-party system which
lasted for over seven decades. Most Other countries alternated between periods of democratic rule and
dictatorships. Fueled by isolation during both World Wars, Latin America had a surge in growth during the 1950's and
60's. Countries like Brazil, Mexico and Argentina quickly industrialized and became highly influential on the world
stage as part of the non-aligned movement: those groups of countries which did not explicitly ally with either of the
two superpowers during the Cold War. Nevertheless, the increasing influence of Communism was felt throughout the
region and this set the stage for many battlegrounds between the opposing ideologies. Of these, Castro's Cuba
undoubtedly stood-out the most, and was an active participant in the spread of communism not only in the region, but
in the world.
^ The final act of Latin American history arguably begins with the severe economic and political crisis which
hit during the 1970's and 80's. Massive foreign debt, corrupt regimes, and brutal "dirty wars" by dictators like
Augusto Pinochet eventually led to a rise in democracy during the last decade of the century. Today the highly
diverse nations of Latin America face new challanges but also new opportunities to lead them into the 21st century
as a potentially major player in world politics and the global economy.
