Read a little bit of the story, its not badly written and in places interesting, but its too long and much too elaborated on the actual events that took place.

My advice to the author is look for a day job if he has'nt already got one hes not doing properly ! either that or learn to write stories shorter and more concisely.

I could only manage 4 or 5 chapters before losing interest completely, a shame because a shorter and less verging on the fantastical, more telling a truer story may have made me read on.
A proud member of the "Apolyton Story Writers Guild".There are many great stories at the Civ 3 stories forum, do yourself a favour and visit the forum. Lose yourself in one of many epic tales and be inspired to write yourself, as I was.

4 or 5 chapters? I couldn't get through the opening post!

It gets increasingly funny and many people can and have read through it and enjoyed it. The parts aren't that long and get increasingly funnier. Part V is coming out soon.

That's funny... a lot of people told me they wanted it to be longer! I guess if you've never read anything longer than a lunch menu it might be a little distressing to you... But I'll forgive you because you're English; you guys have a hard time understanding American 'humour' sometimes. However, I would advise you to look at the Stories & Tales and NES sections on CFC if you think mine's long - it's very short by comparison.

And yes, I do have a "day-job" as a physics student. Does it all make sense to you, now? (Our sense of humor is usually stereotyped as odd. I won't argue.)

If you wanted this to be a more "historical" setting, you've obviously missed the point of the whole thing. You don't seem to understand this is based in the fictional world of Civ. IT'S A SPOOF! And it is not a one-page short story, but more of a serial.

I get the feeling that people don't like it because it has anti-Apolyton statements from CFC, which I included only because it was true to the spirit of the day. I have nothing against 'Polys. However, I have decided that in the next edition, ChrisiusMaximus and joncha will be the first two soldiers off the Poly invasion fleet... only to be snacked on by alligators or strafed by insurgent planes.

EDIT: I should clarify that the "anti-Apolyton insurgency" was nonconformist's idea, not mine.

Will9: it is the "tenth year of CFC" because CFC was originally started as a small page in 1998, according to Thunderfall.
            '98, 99, 00, 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07. Maybe it's not officially ten yet, but that's a small matter. And yes, we are portraying TF as a 'dictator.'

Everybody's so upset that this doesn't follow the literal history... If I wrote a one-post summary of what actually happened, do you know what it'd be? It would be short, matter-of-fact, and boring... and completely repetitive. You can read what actually happened here and at CFC, for goodness' sakes!

I am going to spam Ball Lightning at FCF for posting this here...

From what Thunderfall said, it was Locutus' idea.

I would like to request that a mod move this to a more appropriate forum, like the stories section.

                    Locutus is ours .

And besides, I still like to claim that he got the idea from my suggestion right before it on the April Fools thread in the staff forum .

The joke wasn't funny when it was attempted.

                      Move along...nothing to see here.

Many people would dispute that including me, but many people also really hated it so this is a funny story which puts everyone including ThunderFall and DanQ into a funny context. (And mirc)
