You know, the Mesoamerican thing sounded a lot cooler when I was sleepydrunk at 3 AM. I'd have to say I'm into the Fall of Rome scenario a lot more. I'd recommend everyone go through the archives here and take a look at the "Advanced Hellenistic" NES, that one is what I'm really thinking about as a model. The quantified armies and income I thought made it easier for player-vs-player conflicts to be fairly resolved, and battles and conquests were more realistic feeling. Smaller numbers might make things simpler though. In any case, I'd be ok with modding, but as this is my first NES that seems like a bad idea. I could help bipolarbear out, we see each other on a regular basis. Maybe if everyone summarized where all their troops were during the "orders" portion of their posts it would be enough.
We still haven't adressed the level of absurdity and sarcasm we'll tolerate. I know it can be annoying when someone's being completely rediculous, but it's a pain when someone's got no sense of humor too. Any thoughts?

With bipolar playing we'd better set this on high.

I think, in regards to sarcasm, we will jsut play it by ear. I guess I will mod this, one, but I am going to use the same format as was used in the Hellenistic NES.

Differenet countries of course. I don't really have a knowledge of what was happening in the world around the fall of the Roman Empire, or what happened after that. Cna anybody point me to a a good online resource for finding out what it is that happened?

Sure. Just pick a minor or out of the way country and post/do stuff when you feel like it. We do our best to not pick on unattended player countries, if it can be avoided.

if it is alright with you guys, I think Ciders would like to mod, with my humble and sagacious guidance. That way the absurdity will stay at a controlled medium, and there will be less newb mistakes.

Even though Bipolar already said he would mod, I'd also be willing to do it as well.

                      Do you want to mod?
I'm fully willing to give up the title of mod.
It may be good for Ciders to get some experience first.

Do you think that ou will have the time for the commitment?

Nuclear, why don't I play for say 5 turns, then I'll take it over and you'll take my country, or another one if you prefer. And I'd be happy to help with the set-up and mapmaking at the beginning, I'm a little bit of a military history nut. Although, around here, I guess we all are.

I'm guessing I can read MarkG's topped thread to learn how to play?

I'm willing to give it a go.

                          ACK!

                            I'm just an NES nut.

It generally sucks to be switching mods over, if you make it a permanent switch then that would be cool, but if you switch every 5, then thta would be annoying.

Oooh, boy another player. Ciders, with this many people, you may want to co-mod with nuclear. The more players, the more the commitment. Does anybody have a count for how many players are looking into this NES?

Tub, if you still find it confusing, you basically just take control over the country, and roleplay as the country's leader. You make all types of decision, economic and foreign policy, and submit your orders on what to do to the mod. The mod process the orders and makes a turn, and tweaks the stats of your country/state/empire. Do you understand that basic summary?
