I looked at a few of the threads and I'm baffled.

Suppose somebody, namely me, had never played a game of Diplomacy in their life, and had never even seen a gameboard up close. However, I am acquainted with the idea behind it, and have looked at rulebooks online, and am very interested in playing. How would be the best way then to get into the game?"You think you're half as good as me, the only thing you'll ever be, is just a way for me to bleed on this stage" - "Confession" by COLD

If you don't want to jump into a game in progress, you could always wait until the next new game starts and try your luck at that. Up to you.
Btw: if you're interested in joining Frontier Imperial as England, it would be the last link I gave in the maps (dark blue colored territory is England's)"Chegitz, still angry about the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991?

Join a game as a replacement. For example: England in Frontier Imperial is in desparate need of replacement, as Larry has dropped the position.

I, too, have been curious about this for a while and would like to know exactly what the game is, and how is it played.
Is it an actual computer game, is it a board game, or is it just "pen and paper"? And how is it played, are there any websites I could go to for an explaination?Rethink Refuse Reduce Reuse

It's relatively easy to pick up on.
If you want an example of a game from Start to Finish, look at these maps...
www.diplomacy-archive.com and www.diplom.org are the best sites to learn the rules.
Also, here is a link to the online rulebook - http://www.hasbro.com/instruct/Diplomacy.PDF"Chegitz, still angry about the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991?

I'll check it out, maybe I'll get involved in some of the games being played here... do new games start very often? (not that I wouldn't neccisarily mind replacing someone)
CGN, however, has been starting a fresh set of games recently. We plan to start a new Standard in mid-late June. If you'd like to join that, I'll be sure to let you know when it starts."Chegitz, still angry about the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991?
