Congratulations to Iain and The Orange1 for a very well played game to a two way win tie, you don't generally see cooperation right up to the final move, nicely done!

Ruffhaus8, you can now figure out the final game members and good luck since these two tied for first.

I want to thank everyone in this game, you made it an enjoyable game to GM.

    Congratulations guys!

    Great game everyone

I'm only sorry I didn't expand fast enough to ahve the ability to block the both of you off.

When only 3 of us were left, the_orange_one suggested allying against germany, to which I happily agreed. Infact, there was no other option as allying with germany was unthinkable. We're in each other's arses and had no way to cooperate against england.

So I thought - what do I have to lose? If I say no to the allaince, I'm alone against them both. And I was the biggest nation back then, so it was obvious they'd go after me.

So I risked, several times in a row, and England continued stabbing me against and again. Having no partner in england, and no conceivable way to talk to Germany, I played a tactical game only, quite bravely might I add until my computer crashed and the turn was adjucated with me being NMR.

But I don't think that NMR made a big difference. I had no chance anyhow.

Iain - great game and tactics.
    Orange - great diplomacy.

    It was fun and stressing.

Until the Spring 1909 moves came out I was still unsure of whether I would make it at all. I was quietly confident that Siro would not spot that I could surround Sevastopol (and the "lost moves" confirmed this) but from being the larger partner in the coalition initially I suddenly became the one in danger of not making it all... but in the end, co-operation won the day.

I didn't think at the start that my draw was a particular good one - in what I considered to be the more competitive hemisphere. So it proved, with Turkey's neighbours continually shooting themselves in the foot, and although a successful dissection of France was completed, Siro was expanding unchecked. In the event, this was almost for the best - I doubt the E/G alliance would have had lasted without such an obvious common enemy; it is certainly rare to see one survive until the endgame.

After the initial period, the game was played to a high standard and was immensely enjoyable. Thanks to Defiant for GMing, and good luck to everyone in the final. Just not too much luck.

Well, first I want to say a BIG thankyou to Defiant for GMing the game - excellent as ever. Also thankyou to everyone who played, it was a very enjoyable game from start to finish. Congratulations to Iain for making the final and commiserations to Siro - it was a shame the way it ended, you had a good game until then.

It is rare to see an alliance that lasts from start to finish in a game, especially between 2 western powers, but I had a good feeling about it from the start. France fell according to plan, although the biggest bonus for us was infighting among the eastern powers - by the time Siro had emerged on top, the west was pretty much won.

The next vital move for me was getting into the Med in force as soon as possible because Turkey was expanding rapidly and Italy was getting steamrollered. I didn't get there fast enough to save Italy, but I used the time Turkey was killing him to secure naval superiority in the western Med. At this stage, it looked like we were stalemated and that meant I had to do something radical or I would miss the final. So I lied to Siro (sorry!), promising him I would help against Germany in return for Tunis. He had to say yes and the stab worked, destroying his army and setting up an attack on the Ionian. Again I lied to ensure I took Ionian and once I had that, Turkey was a goner. The only problem left was whether Germany and I could take enough SCs before the end of the game to qualify for the final. Siro's NMRs helped big time, but I think we would have managed anyway (at least 1 of us, probably Germany would have gone).

It was fitting that we ended on equal SCs - nice to see alliances can work all the way through a game. Thanks finally then to Iain for helping making the whole thing work.
