  • TITANS Spring 268 B.C Moves

Well , there was alot of posturing but no retreats will be required this turn. The squeeze seems to be on, but Rome fights on as does Egypt. Not much ground is being gained here .

" Emperor Martinus Ceasar names Incitatus Proconsul of the Empire"

In a strange political manuever today, Imperator Martinus Ceasar named Incitatus, his favorite horse, Proconsul of the Empire. Many opposition leaders in the Senate have protested the decree and have called it an act to confound the opposition and gain majority in the Senate.
The Emperor didn't reply as he had a violin concerto to perform in the forum.
Proconsul Incitatus added, " Neeeeigh....Winnnnnie winnnnnnnie winnnnny."

I have one question of our esteemed GM, Chunky. Hey, I observed that a Macedonian fleet went from what appears the East Coast of Athens to the country of Cornith witout going through Sparta. Now I know there is no designation of Athens(ec) or Athens(wc) but it seems real unrealistic that a fleet can portage across land, so wasssuuuuupppppp?

Defiant, I seem to remember reading in the rules for this variant that it was allowed. Am not sure though, and can't pull it up in the dip pouch . So until I'm able to pull it up I can't rule. Does anyone else remember reading about this movement in the rules ?

Since Athens has no coast designations, I always assumed it was like Kiel or Constantinople and a move like that would be permissible... if we can't find the rules, I think that'd be the best assumptions.
        All syllogisms have three parts.
Therefore this is not a syllogism.

In ancient Greece, there were cases when warships were carried or rolled over the Isthmus of Corinth to avoid having to sail round the Pelopponese. Not sure whether the timing matches, but perhaps they get the rule from that. It certainly proves it could be physically done if necessary.

            From the rules at DipPouch:

"All Coastal provinces are assumed to have only one coast. Thus, for example, a fleet can enter Athens from Euboea and exit to Corinth the following turn. The same holds for Fleets entering Sinai from Memphis and proceeding to Petra (and vice versa), and for Agrigentum as well. For those who need to add realism to this rule, assume the wooden triremes and quinquiremes of the period were sufficiently light to portage within a single province. [Note: However, that two neighboring coastal provinces may not necessarily be adjacent for the purposes of sea travel. For example: Etruria and Cisalpina are both coastal provinces, but they do not touch on a water border, and thus a fleet in Etruria may not move to Cisalpina or vice versa.]"

I also read that any SC counts as a home SC for builds, is this true? If only I had known!!

              Thanks Snowie, The Orange1
Figured as much as soon as I saw no coastal designations and Ruff doesn't make many technical mistakes.

Thanks guys, I wasn't able to pull up the rules last night for some reason . I was however of the thinking that this would be permissable. Appreciate the help.
