            Bah. I don't retreat OTB.

Well, very well. Now I know what you don't do. When you submit your retreat order, I'll note it on the map.

What is it that makes you two liking each other like that? Come on, Ruffy, he had the choice between OTB and Formosa. He said "not OTB", now I believe you should be able to update the map even without further input by Snowie

This reminds me of a lecture I heard recently by one Douglas Bridges, a professor from New Zealand visiting Oberlin (really screwed up implaceable accent, too. He was born in Scotland, went to college in England, and spent the last ten yeras of his life in NZ). Described as being on the "lunatic fringe" of mathematics by our own head of the math department, his lecture on Constructive mathematics basically detailed how it worked, and one of the more important parts was that Constructive mathematics denies the statement "P or not P." In other words, you have to actually prove P in constructive mathematics to show it, you can 't just show that not P is impossible and therefore P must be true (somehow). There were some interesting conclusions from this and then he showed how you can still do a lot of higher mathematics even without these assumptions we take for granted.

So, it seems RUFFHAUS is an advocate of constructive diplomatics. I'll oblige; the army retreats to Formosa (my previous comment referred to the fact that why should I give extra information to my opponents on what to build? Leave 'em in suspense.).

Thank you. I'm a not a proponent of anything but a straight answer.

I always list OTB as a retreat option (like all other available choices) as is my standard process for adjudication. I do this because it an OTB retreat is often a valid tactical order and an option that some players never use, making me wonder if they know that they are allowed to. In any case I'm not trying to be insulting when I suggest it. I completely understand the option to use the retreat as has now been exercised. I'm not pushing either path. And I'm not the one who started with the sarcasim.

Map updated. Adjustments due Monday evening, thank you.

                      Sahib,
I believe Ruff is only being gaming correctly, you say that in the WM tournament and they won't put up with it, you tell them what you are going to do, not what you don't do as a personal play technique.
Lets always remember the passangers on United Flight 93, true heroes in every sense of the word!

Sighhhhhhhhhhhh. Why am I always misinterpreted?

RUFFHAUS, I was not being sarcastic! I was not going against you. Of course you should list all the retreats. I would do the same thing. And you certainly shouldn't retreat for me. I was merely saying "bah" because the game isn't going terribly well at the moment. I wasn't annoyed at you for not retreating for me or anything. I was just saying that there's no way I would retreat OTB. This is because (with regards to the tactics mentioned earlier) retreating OTB is a valid tactical action only in Spring or if you have 0 builds or greater. This is to allow you to destroy a useless advanced unit so you can rebuild the unit at home. If you have disbands, then there's no reason to telegraph which unit you'll disband... so because of this, there was no way I'd retreat OTB. I added in a "bah" because I am now down to 1 SC. Since there was only one other retreat, I figured that would be enough. This was in no way an attack or a snide comment or whatever! Or at least I never intended it to be, scout's honor.

Defiant, yes, but this is not WM. Obviously for that I would submit retreats straight. This was an informal "post your retreat here" type thing. I mean look at all the banter in the threads for some of the World Diplomacy type threads, or some other things- "My glorious army advances to Formosa to raise an army of Argentinian partisans to strike at the evil government strangling Southern South America" or something. How is that any different from what I said, if not even more informal?
