  • Big Huge Thread IV: Name Change Explination Inside

OOC: I've changed the name of this thread to the Big Huge War thread to wish Brian Reynolds good luck with his new company, Big Huge Games.

This thread has officially become the biggest Modern Day Thread since Today's World and World 1999, congrats everyone! May there be 100 more threads!

Anyway, let's see here...... gscott, you DO NOT have 8000 Abrams. I have been producing them since the beginning with a full half of the US the entire time and I've gotten about 4000. Scott F, the Polish Renegades are gone, stop bombing stuff.

Sigma, are you still in Maine or did you forget to list that state in the ones you're giving up? I can't let you to keep it....

Another great map, Scott. Good job.

Also, everyone, let me set the standard for the US-sections militaries. The CTA can have a slightly bigger military than the other two sections because I own a full half of the US+some of Canada and because I have the more populated half(the west). Also, the US has 10 ACTIVE divisions, but they have a huge amount of reserves they can tap. I added that into my military figures, sorry for any confusion.

IC: The CTA would like to clear up the confusion about our stance with the UK by saying that we are not at war with them. We issued an ultimatum and they met all the demands. There is no war between us.

    To: UDSA

We congratulate you on your independence. Ambassadors will be sent immediatly to begin diplomatic talks for stuff.

    To: Russia

You still have not answered our request for an alliance. We may be able to spare some chobham armor if you agree.......

Proposed Treaty between CW, UK, and UDSA: (Not the Independence, but the current war between UDSA and CW vs UK)
[*]West British Canada is ceased to CW.
[*]Newfoundland is ceased to UDSA. Newfoundland Island is annexed into CTA after that.
[*] North Ireland is ceased to Ireland.

    This treaty is non-nogotiatable.

Operative Blazing Shield was progressive very well. 2 modernized Trafalger subs coasted silently close to the Norfolk Naval Base in the dark of night. Then from their torpedo tubs they disgourged 4 SAS 8 man teams and 2 8 man SBS teams armed with demolition gear. The Teams then silently swam 2 miles into the naval base. One SAS team creeped out of the water to act as lookouts radioing reports on the sentrys back to the other teams. With the heightened tension that being at war caused, the base was crawling with activity. But the highly training SAS team avoided being spotted for the time being. Blazing Shield had been created as a contingency if the UK was to go to war with the CTA. Commando's were to sneak into Pearl Harbor and attach explosives to as many ships as possible. While they could not sink any but the smallest vessels they could do extensive damage to all ships. When the CW moved in, the plan was applied to the former US first fleet base at Norfolk. The SBS and SAS teams worked as fast as possible attaching 10 1,000Lb charges and 4 500lb charges before they were noticed. The CW seamen were not bumbling idiots and eventually discovered the lookout team. Once they were spotted they radio'd for the other teams to flee and then ran into a warehouse and began placing C-4 charges. When the CW found and terminated team one, they found and defused 8 C-4 charges in a munitions warehouse. The Commanders promtly assumed it was a plan to detonate charges hoping the munitions would fire and cause more destruction. No one suspected that charges were under their ships with a fuse of 10 minutes. The other teams swam back to the rendevous point activated their radio beacons. Phase two began as helo's from HMS Resounding fury picked them up. No CW Naval Commander had expected the Fury to be this far south when Canada was under attack. They were therefore unprepared for the 24 Sea harriers that approached the base at an altitude of 30 feet over the water.

The charges blew on time and damaged numerous ships and before the crew of the base knew what was happening what seemed like Hundreds of Planes appeared and began bombing the damaged ships. All told, the UK lost 8 Seals, and all the Harriers ditched over water(being picked up by the subs at a preset waypoint) to avoid giving up the location of the Fury. The next day the CW began to tally the killed soldiers and sunk ships.( scott, you can do the honors)

The hardened Armies that fought in the UDSA war began digging in in eastern ontario far from the current battle lines. Over 300,000 soldiers and 450 Tanks are in the area.

In all areas of the UK, thousands upon thousands of men are volunteering after an unprovocked attack on the UK. Analysts expect the Army to number fully 1.5 million men once all recruits are trained and outfitted. Industry has gone on a war footing chruning out Crusader tanks at incredible rates while Shipyards have increased production rate by a factor of 3.

          To UDSA,

Your treaty is absurd. We will not surrender British Citizens to murderous bastards like you and the traitorous dogs that are the CW. Do not dictate terms to us.

          To CTA,

The former state of maine has been adamant about staying in the UK. They never fully supported the UDSA and never signed the second declaration of Independence. They are a part of the UK.

          To CW,

Not only do you attack us, your former allies, but you attack the innocent people of South Africa. Why do you attack the INDEPENDENT United African Dominion? They are friends and supporters of the UK but are an independent nation! Please leave uninvolved natios out of your murderous rampage.(ooc: i did not know buffalo was yours and that info was on the ancient threads. I repeatedly made it know that the UAD was independent even on the page before your attack post.)

          To Russia,

I'm afraid we must decline you offer for the time being.

          To Ireland,

What say you on our proposal?

              To India,and UDSA

Based on their actions in the UAD we must conclude that the CW is hellbent on not only defeating the UK but also its former possesions. Therefore we ask that you be wary of those unpredictable yet powerful fellows. We fear that they may have already killed thousands of people in areas that were once british including African and the former 13 Colonies. And their word shoud not be trusted as until late they were our most trusted allies but saw no problem in bastabbing us.

OOC: Well then, the number of enemies keeps a-growing.

                IC:
                January 10, 2001
                0600 Hours
                CTA-UKCanada Border

114 cruise missles streaked over the border and into UK Canada. Strategic targets were hit all over the territory, including airfields and RADAR stations. Two minutes later, several hundred Patriot missles were launched, hitting UK planes all over UK Canada.

Fifteen minutes after the cruise missles launched, over 400 fighters lit up the sky as they flew into UK Canada(from now on referred to as UKC). With combined UDSA and CW forces UK pilots already had their hands full. The CTA fighters pushed the odds immensely in Anti-UK favor, with UK planes being outnumbered nearly 3 to 1. In a matter of hours air superiority was achieved.

                1850 Hours

F-117's and A-10's then began to make runs on UK troops all over UKC. The primary targets were SAM and AA emplacements, which quickly became engulfed in flames as missle after missle plowed into them. B-2's silently cruised into UKC airspace, releasing smart bombs for precision hits on communications arrays and RADAR stations.

                January 11, 2001
                1800 Hours

Apaches and Longbows launched from helipads and began to move in on the UKC-CTA border. Over 200 helicopters stopped a few miles into UKC territory and began hitting tanks and SAM's. Thirty-two were lost due to enemy fire, but the main attack was a total success as what was left of the largest group of UK ground forces after airstrikes was decimated by Hellfire and TOW missles.

Our airstrikes will continue until you cede Maine to the UDSA. If you continue to refuse, our land forces may be sent in to take all your land in North America. As soon as Maine is ceded, we will cease all attacks. We suggest you give in to our demands quickly, as you do not have much chance of fighting our combined strength.

"But all refugees will be allowing into Canada."

Yeah, gotta love our grammar too.

IC: The CTA attacks have stopped after 6 days of air strikes. It is estimated that a fifth of UK ground forces in Canada and two-thirds of the UK air force in Canada was destroyed during this period.

All naval bases have put on red alert because of the recent UK bombings of CW shipyards. Any SEAL teams will most assuredly be intercepted before they can reach their targets.

President Shabaz has immediatley ordered all aggressive actions against the AU, military or otherwise, to be stopped. Instead, a special envoy is sent to Riyadh to formally aquaint the two nations, and to send the message that Iraniaq's motions were purely out of haste, and did not reflect her true intentions with the Arabic Union...

We're delighted you wish to aide us in our invasion of Afghanistan! Expect the favors to be returned sometime, comrades.

                      IN AFGHANISTAN...
The asault goes as-planned so far, but it is likely to slow down until the Soviet tactitians can arrive to help devise a strategy for taking out the Afghans in mountainous terrain. Iraniaqi tanks have nearly encircled Herat, and will do the same to Kandahar in about two weeks. Many smaller towns in the south and central areas of Afghanistan are captured, and local citizenry is elated that the ongoing civil wars there will soon come to an end.

                      IN UZBEKISTAN...
Iraniaqi forces are within 25 miles from Tashkent... Rockets and artillery shells begin to rain on the city, but the real fighting has yet to be taken up. China poises to strike the rear end of the town while Iraniaq takes the brunt of the assault. The fall of the capital will complete the Iraniaqi annexation of Uzbekistan, and, more importantly, another front would be through fighting for. Official word hasn't come out yet, but it is assumed that after Afghanistan, Iraniaq will be through with it's conquests for quite some time. Only time will tell if this comes true...

Azerbaijani guerrilla resistance is becoming less and less of a problem each passing day. Soon, it will be a peaceful, thriving area of Iraniaq without a trace of the previous war...

NEW OIL FIELDS DISCOVERED IN TURKEMISTAN!
After only three weeks of the utilization of government $$$ to benefit the oil and natural gas economy, 3 mid sized-to-large oil fields are discovered in the wastes of Turkemistan. The net value of all the oil is estimated at around $500,000,000, although much of it is expected to be traded for more modern weaponry... (IRANIAQ IS STILL INTERESTED, btw)
Construction crews immediatley move in to lay plans for refineries to expoit these valuable resources. The search for more oil continues...

The Arabic Union is glad that Iraniraq has realized that a new Gulf War would only harm both of us, and our military presence in the border region will be reduced to pre-crisis state.

The Arabic Union has received an offer from the Conservative Republic of the Middle East to form an alliance which will include the Arabic Union, the CRME, and Iraniraq. Both the AU and the CRME have already agreed, and we hope that Iraniraq will agree to this new alliance.

President Shabaz of Iraniraq, King Fahd of the Arabic Union, and Prime Minister Dragonata of the Conservative Republic of the Middle East have met today in Riyadh, and they have signed an historic agreement which promises to finally bring peace to the Middle East for the first time in centuries. The 3 Scimitars of the East have agreed on an alliance, which will unite the Middle East from Turkey to Oman, from Sudan to Uzbekistan, and from Djibouti to Azerbaijan. The AU, CRME and Iraniraq have removed their troops from their common borders, and free trade is also part of this new alliance.

In light of the grand alliance recently agreed to, Iraniaq can pull MASSIVE amounts of troops from the interior and bring them to the fronts in Central Asia. For now, the effect can't be felt, but when the equipment arrives, it'll be a virtual blitzkrieg across the Asian steppes...

The heads of the three nations meet for the first time in the ICQ Hotel in Riyadh to discuss their futures. No plans are announced as of yet, but big things are expected from this excellent alliance which shall surely rule the region for many years to come...
