The AEU government is back in action, following a period of parliament inaction over several controversial issues (OOC: I’ve had a very heavy workload recently) and power outages (OOC: And then my internet was down ). A research institution has found a reliable and moderately priced way to make artificially grown and genetically engineered replacement organs. Careful review has shown that the treaty that banned development of Antarctica does not apply to the AEU, thus, using technologies developed largely in connection to space colonization, settlements are being founded. Permanent population centers, small scale mining efforts, a minor manufacturing base, and local agricultural supply will be developed over the course of the next year, by which time facilities are expected to be able to support a population of over 15000 in two bases, with continued expansion following that.

Lunar development continues as planned, with added progress being derived from the ability to trade and pool resources with allied bases.

With the increase in world tensions, many people in the AEU are concerned about their security on the world stage. Thus the army will be progressively expanded from Medium to Large over the course of two and a half years (10 turns) and all military branches will dedicate special forces that receive top of the line equipment and training for their respective environments.
The AEU declines to enact any embargoes at this time and will retain previous trade relations with all countries (except no exportation of military equipment or technology above the level that ordinary civilians can own).

Brazillian authorities in New Brasilia, Martio Province, have discovered a motherlode of oil lies in Brazillian territory within the surface of Mars. Scientists are attempting to study how to get the oil out of the ground without disturbing the geological integrity of the crust, since the oil lies along one of Mars' most earthquake-prone faults.

"We believe that the oil there helps keep the fault lubricated," Dr. Ferdanao Alcalde told reporters. "If too much of the oil is pumped out, we believe that the surface there will be rocking like a teeter-totter in a hurricane."

Dr. Alcalde went on to say, "We do not believe that the oil here will rival any supply on Earth. Transport costs would be much too high to make it practical for use at Home. However, applying that same logic, this discovery will allow the Brazillian government to save large amounts of money on transporting oil from Earth up here. Just think of the possibilities!"
