      Russia Actual Stats:
      850,000 men, Aging
      Medium Navy, Aging
Very Large, High-Tech (newer plane designs)

The Russian military has deteriorated since the breakup of the USSR due to avoision (is that a word?) of conscription, lack of maintenance, and old tanks designs (still using some WW2-era tanks).

      United States:
      1,400,000 men, High-Tech
      Gigantic Navy, High-Tech
      Huge Air Force, High-Tech

USA retains one of the most powerful armed forces in the world with superior technology and leadership, it can take on any foe one on one.

      PRC:
      2,100,000 men, High-Tech
      Small Navy, Aging
      Medium Air Force, Aging

PRC has had some signifcant army research and upgrades, although it's air force and navy are deteriorating.

      South Africa:
      60,000 men, High-Tech
      Medium Navy, High-Tech
      Small Airforce, High-Tech

South Africa is still leading regional power, only third to Ethiopia and Eritrea in Sub-Saharan Africa, and although out numbered by Angola, Rwanda, Dem. Rep. of Congo and Nigeria, has the advantage with superior technology and higher leadership, so don't be alarmed if those numbers seem small.

Note: I wrote the little blurbs myself, but the stats are from the book.

naervod: Thanks. I'll fix it right away.

And... While it is true that Russia still uses some older tanks, the T-54/55 is not quite WWII-era. It came out just after the Korean War as a replacement to the T-34/85, which was used in WWII.

However, I won't contest the fact that a lot of Russia's military equipment is a bit behind in the times.

@Metrhil-Well look how old the US F-14 (1970's) and B-52 (1950's) are, and I consider them to be high-tech (at least in the B-52 case, the retrofitted ones).

@Specialist-Actually, IIRC, the Russians use later models of the T-34 as set artillery pieces in the Far East.

                        I stand corrected...

Anyway, this is neither the time nor the place for this. Let this NES be considered underway! (strikes dramatic, dignified pose, then looks around)

                        ...Where's the map?

                            Current South African actions:

Efforts are underway to wipe out the last remnants of apartheid organization. More involvement and discussion/criticism of the government is encouraged for all citizens.
To combat the AIDS problem, medical awareness is being increased and it is a crime for anyone who knows they have an STD to have intercourse with anothether person without informing them of their condition.
In order to expand and diversify the economy, significant tax breaks are being given to businesses that give their employees decent wages and reinvest their profits in their business.
Immigration laws have been eased for skilled and semi-skilled workers.
Those walls are absent of glory as they always have been. The people of tents will inherit this land.

                                To South Africa:
                                From: United States
We would like to help your nation in its fight against AIDS and poverty. We have about Two billion dollars that you can use to these ends. What do you say?

                                To: Iraq
We demand that you open up your country to UN inspectors. If you fail to do this in accord with the cease fire agreement that ended the first Gulf War and several UN resultions we will have no other course of action but to remove your government from power and have our troops inspect your country.
