Air and artillery barrage is making Warsaw crossings of the Elbe very difficult, but enough are getting through to create problems for the Northern flank of NATO forces fighting outside of Bremen. Despite this, the push from the south is also keeping Warsaw troops fighting on multiple flanks, leading to many casualties on both sides and preventing anyone from gaining a clear advantage.

In Denmark the last of the NATO troops have fallen back to the islands and the fortified northern tip.

The strengthening of Red positions around Iceland has thwarted a combined attempt from U.S. and NATO seapower to regain control of the area, however incursions from the North Sea and mid-atlantic have thwarted Soviet attempts to enforce a total blockade, though they have enough control to strangle the needed supplies through the North Atlantic.

Ships from the Mediterranean have dispelled the meager Soviet presence from the coast of Spain, at least temporarily opening up a route for shipping, though it is precarious and there are organizational problems getting the supplies from the Mediterranean ports to where they are needed.

Close support aircraft are on the lookout and more antiarcraft vehicles are being brought up to attempt to lessen the impact of low flying Soviet and Warsaw vehicles.

Sheep's little blockade did not happen. There are subs though hunting for ships in the mid Alantic, but the seas around West Europe are under NATO controll.

Update-Week 2

Soviet Union
The oil fields that were damaged by the terrorist attack was not as damaged as once though. Workers have been able to construct a pipeline and start pumping oil out of the oil fields once again. Gas and jet fuel production though is not back up to 100 %, but has increased the oil reverse of the Soviet Union by 2 weeks maybe more.

Alaska
Soviet Forces withdrew from Alaska, but suffered for it. Two tank divisions stay behind to delay the US forces and allow the other Soviet forces to escape. The Pacfic Fleet chased the ships the troops were on. Total loses for the Soviet Army, 50,000 troops dead, wounded or missing in action. Also most of the Soviet Union Pacfic fleets landing craft are damaged and need repair before they can be use to land troops again. 100,000 troops escaped back to Russian soil.

Germany
Soviet Union has made a breakthrough at the city of Hannover were NATO forces were week. NATO responded with a massive airattack against the advancing troops, and infantry armed with anti tank rockets on jeeps make it very hard for Soviet Armor and have suffered heavy losses. Most of the city now lays in ruins, but most the people who lived in the city were evacuted, but some stayed to fight the Soviet forces. German units have rushed to the front lines in order to prevent Soviet forces to advacned any futher.

In East Germany the some bridges are up and running, but NATO continues to destroy what bridges it sees, and Soviet army keeps putting replacements back up. Reinforcements and supplies though are flowing over the Elb river. Though they too under attack from the air. Soviet army is especially dreadfull of the A-10 , and have called it the "Devil's Cross."

Attack helicopters for both NATO and the Soviet Union have had little sucess due to the fact that both sides have both SAMs and fighters deployed on the lines.

Denmark
NATO troops have are now hold up on the tip of island and are recieving supplies by air droop. The Soviets have controll of some air feilds in Denmark and soon will be able to launch attacks from those fields.(next turn)

Atlantic
In Iceland the division on the island has set up SAM sites and radar stations. There are now regular airpatrolls over the Island. But there is 4 US troops that have escaped detection and have a radio. The Soviet forces dont know they are there as of yet.

Convoys have continued to suffer at the hands of sub and airattacks. Badgers have attack the convoy with anti ship missles. Anther 10 ships have been sunk. Nato so far has only recieved one week of supplies and has managed to produce about enough amo for this infantry weapons for 2 weeks, but the tank shells that the Abrams M1 tanks are only made in the United States and have to some in by sea.

Asia
China has been able to recuit spies in high level postions in the governments of Japan and South Korea, Tawain though has been a bit of a problem so far for the Chinese.

Space
The Soviets have been able to shoot down a KH-11 satellite. The US has started to dust off 6 anti satellite weapons it was testing. Though it is not certain how accurate the weapons are since they were part of a test program. The US has also repositioned all of its satellites to avoid the Soviets anti satellite weapons.

I've started reading the book Red Storm Rising. Pretty interesting reading, if you ask me. I'll try to prevent that from giving me an advantage as much as possible, though.

From the looks of things it seems as though my predecessor left a tough act to pick up.

USSR ORDERS-WEEK 3

-Continue to hunt for the 4 escapees on Iceland. At the same time, impose curfew on both soldiers and civilians there.
-Launch a few more spy satellites into space.
-Employ a new strategy in Germany: Keep most of the anti-aircraft equipment set up near the artillery and tanks. Bombard NATO positions and settle in for the long haul.
-Keep pounding the convoys.

-For now, ignore the Middle East. If we don't hurt them any more, they won't hurt us.

-Denounce my predecessor as an incompetent for his turning of the Arabs and others against us.

OOC: Albania is part of the Warsaw Pact, Yugoslavia is not.

The troops in the Thuringer Wald have sortied north to aid those defending Hannover while replacements are moving to their previous positions to protect their flank and that part of the line. This new engagement has expanded the fighting, creating a large stretch of engagement from Bremen to well south of Hannover. Plans are being drawn up as to the specifics of defending the Weser River should the need arise.

NATO to U.S. (SECRET) :

We see two things that are immediately important. (1). Regaining Iceland. (2). Getting some of you bombers over here so that you can begin strategic bombing. If you have any ideas, PM with specifics.

USA Orders:

-Activate reserves

-Begin new supply route through the Mediterranean to Italy and France to resupply American forces first(1st Infantry Division, 1st Armored Division and 173rd Brigade of the Southern European Task Force) stationed in Germany and Italy at the war start, and NATO forces second. Included in the shipment is an abundance of anti-tank and air-defense missiles such as the BGM-71 TOW(anti-tank missile with range up to 2.5 miles, crew of 2) and the FIM-92A Stinger(air-defense missile, range 3 miles) as they have proved very effective against the Soviet forces at war start.

-American forces establish fresh new defensive line on the west bank of the River Weser waiting for the NATO forces to leap frog their way to safety behind American lines so that they all may regroup.

-Begin deploying Special Forces Alpha-teams and Navy SEALs behind Soviet lines in Germany to disrupt supply and communication lines as well as destroy Soviet bridges on the Elbe and call in strikes on artillery positions.

-Insert covertly a Delta Force team via HALO jump at night into Iceland to locate and aid the 4 evadees (aka Beagle).
---Begin making preparations for an operation involving the retaking of Iceland, (involving the 75th regiment).

-American and NATO air forces retain their superiority of the skies. Begin patrolling Iceland air space testing the strength of Soviet air power there.

-CIA to begin operation planning in ways to conduct joint operations with an SF A-team in disrupting Soviet oil repairing and production.

-Reinforce and resupply the 2nd Infantry Division stationed in South Korea.

-Allow the 172nd Infantry Brigade and 91st Division to fortify the Alaskan frontier.

-begin drawing up plans to move the 82nd Airborne Division and 101st Air Assault Division as well as the 3rd Infantry division to Europe, via air and sea.

-Rest of the forces are to ready themselves for immediate deployment to Europe as soon as possible.

-Begin launching spy satellites into space.

This is in response to Sheeps attempted take over of the Middle East with his KGB agents, any nation would consider such a thing an act of war. Similar to when the Soviets invaded Afganstan, the trides united to get rid of them then fought amoung themselves after they left. So the Middle East see Soviets as a greater "Satan" and did for most of the cold war.

No. The Arab states were never ones to think very logically, and they considered Israel's mere existence an act of war. IRL, I think we can be fairly certain that the first thing they would do upon the outbreak of war between NATO and the Warsaw Pact would be invade Israel while the West was distracted, probably with Soviet backing.

Of course, all of that was based upon a situation which did not include Soviet attempts to oust every regime in the ME, which would likely have the effect of turning them very much against the USSR, so it all depends on whether the attempt was made at all - and, IMO, the KGB and Politburo would be smart enough that they simply wouldn't authorise such a thing or try to carry such orders out.
