  • Web Design Complete

Well, to me, I think it turned out pretty well. It's actually not quite complete, because I'm not sure that I'll keep it exactly as it is, but there's no missing parts either. If there are any questions or comments please post them, but don't go and beat all my creativity to a pulp, it'll make me feel lousy

It looks perfect on my computer, meaning there's no broken elements and I've tested it in Opera 6 + 7beta (A bit broken at the very bottom in 7, I'll check that out), Mozilla RC2 (don't have the latest), IE 5 + 6, and that's it. If something looks crappy it's probably broken so let me know, but I tried to make it as cross-browser compatible as possible.

I made it primarily under a resolution of 1024x768 so it looks great in anything above that. In 800x600 it's good, and in 640x480 it looks a bit squished but nothing breaks. Does anyone still browse at 640x480?

The website itself is still under development unfortunately, so we've still got a bit of work to do, but we're getting to it. So anyway, tell me what you think.

    I like it.
As for the filler information it looks a bit garbled.
Maybe for a giberish person it would seem right but not for me.

    - The Graphics are good and no broken parts. The links are neat. Maybe you might want to put some flash to them. I can help if you want, I have experiance in web design.

640x480 is nowadays concidered more like obsolete. The last screen resolution poll in the OTF proved that only 1 admited to use that resolution, while most had 1024x768.

Several small corrections proposed by e-mail.

          - your greek are wrong
          - from the font sizes used in the logo it appears as if the greek are the actual title and the "stella polaris". not sure if you want it like this, but an all-greek main title is kind of confusing to the greater majority of this world's population
          - the xhtml notice is not that important to put it there. better in the footer(and with size=1 font)
          - the navigation menu doesnt need a "navigation title". it's obvious
          - if you dont expect to have tons of content in your pages, you might want to make it not spread on 1024x768 or more. nowdays 640x480 users do not exist and one can safely set a fixed width of 750-770 pixels

other than that, it's a clean, straight to the point interface

Oh, man, caught me on the greek . My Greek font was a bit limited and I don't think I had all the characters. I guess it'd probably be better to put the Main title in English rather than the other way around.

I'll see if I can fit in the XHTML thing in the footer and if not, I'll definitely make the font smaller. Good idea. I should also probably check and see if the code is actually xhtml compliant .

As for the width of the main layout I'm assuming the website will get somme actual content sometime soon and it might be good to leave space for any screenshots and things like that. Thanks for the constructive criticism and I'm sure the site will be much better once it actually has something to put in it besides the quasi-latin gibberish .

Thanks for the suggestions other people proposed as well. I'll link into making the links a bit "cooler" and I'll try to read your suggestions, Rasbelin, as soon as possible but I'm not home right now . I'll check soon though.

Hey, the site looks great! I think the greek looks cool, but off course, it must be correct greek. I do think the actual "Stella Polaris" should be a bit larger though.

Anyway, I'm a bit confused with your css, but the site works fine! Good job!

                  DBTS,

that has been planned. You'll see it when the site goes online.

                  Markos,

thanks for the feedback. I guess we should have asked a Greek for the right spelling.

/me hits his head into a wall as he forgot the existense of Keygen, who's the Greek member of SPDT.

                  Ben,

the code doesn't seem to correct completely. The W3C validator doesn't accept it as the encoding information is missing from the page. The logo will be just fine with Greek as it now is. I'll ask Keygen to get back with the proper typing.

Alright, made some changes. Most noticeable is the logo, which after our numerous greek problems, I changed back to English . Yeah, yeah, it doesn't look as "cool", but I think it'll work out better in the long run.

A made a few textual changes as well as suggested by Rasbelin in one of his emails, so those things are fixed.

I did a lot behind the scenes after michiel said he couldn't understand my css . There was a lot of superfluous crud in there and some really stupid things I did, which I tried to clean up and make it a bit more readable and understandable. Hopefully. Also, there should be less chance of breakage when we go to add real content.

Well, I still think I have a couple things to do (links, encoding, etc.) , but comment on my progress if you wish. Thanks for the positive comments so far, I'm glad everyone likes it more or less.

Okay, so if I can get some real content up there, we'll be set. I'm getting tired of the questions about my filler anyway .

We have a license of the project, have Ras give it to you so that you can post it on the site. Say maybe at the bottom.

                            Ben,

Keygen will get back with the correct Greek text.

                            JB,

yes, I know what you talk about.

I like the design a lot. And actually, I think that with the english version of the name of the game, the banner looks a lot better. Otherwise, the people might think that the whole game is in Greek (in a bad kind of out-of-the-dictionary greek ). Although I think you should make the latin words a little bit bigger. The same size as you had the greek before. And the little addition of the greek name in the bottom part of the banner is also noce. Maybe instead of the rest of the gibberish on the banner, we could have the name of the game in other languages that don't use latin alphabet?

As for the general design, it looks very nice and clean. Nothing extra fancy, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
