  • What inspired you to become interested in StP?

We all have our story how we became interested in Stella Polaris and there's most likely other games in the background that explain why you're interested in a game like this? Have you been playing SMAC and found StP interesting because of the theme and as SMAC hasn't developed further? Like MoO but wanted to have more empire management?

The question is what games have inspired your interest in this project?

The reason for asking is to find out what kind of people we are and what are our common interests. At least it's good to know as it means we can focus on those issues.

    What about little me?

I myself found it interesting because of being a "civer" (Civ, Civ II and Civ III), but also because of the opportunity of developing something new with improved concepts. Maybe FreeCiv would have been more of a project for me, but as they're more or less making a Civ/Civ II clone with some slight improvements, it wouldn't give the chances to come up with something new. Also the space colonisation theme made me interested as Blake suggested that I should visit the old FreeAC bulletin boards. The rest is history.

I got interested, because I had done some faction-gfx to SMAC. And when this freeAC came to my knowledge about a year ago, I thought "hmmm, this looks interesting. I wonder what these guys are up to...".
I'm not a complete idiot: some parts are still missing.

I visited Apolyton, saw a link, liked the idea, signed up and wrote some stuff, and the rest is history.

I'm a Civ veteran . I know Civ since I was 13, 9 years ago. I've played Civilitation the table-game (not joking) that ispired the first PC game, Civ2 and SMAC.
When I discovered the thread here on Poly I was looking for a way to customize SMAC...the rest is history.

I was kind of a 'civer' too. I have known it since I was 12, 4 years ago. But I never heard of Stella Polaris or FreeAC (or AC, for that matter). I heard about the project from Sjoerd in a Diablo 2 game. I liked the idea. I allways wanted to make a game (and I have, but no big ones, just like rock-paper-scisors, tic-tac-toe, and small fighting games ). I signed on and asked for a position in the SPDT. And the rest is history.

Well I joined up during Summer Vacation and It was because of Blakes little but big interesting post in the, I think SMAC forums. That made me interested. I liked the Idea and wanted to be a part of it. To give me experiance in the field and to help develop a new interesting Open Source game.

I don't even remember how exactly I found StP. I was probably searching for something about SMAC, though.

SMAC was what inspired me: a game that took the story to a whole new level, yet is still full of quirks.

The interesting thing is that I had never heard of Poly before then. You can imagine my reaction.

(and also the future tbs theme and a chance to witness the development process from up close)
