    Garrison patrol

Consist out of 5 to 10 standard soldiers. Armed with standard 12mm high powered semi automatic weapons. Light padded body armor. One squad leader and one comminations officer stand out among the other soldiers.

    Job-description:
Protect base region that they are stationed in against outside attack and act as police force when necessary.

    reckon flyer

this is a light prop aircraft with up front a big bulb for the pilot and 3 observers. It has on its back an big radar, and on its belly it has equipment to make 3d maps and observe ground configuration. It has no armor or weapons. Data is directly transmitted to nearest military command.

    Job-description:
it is used to extent air radar cover outside populated areas. It has besides that also the ability to map newly found land and sea while also doing a preliminary survey of the ground configuration especially looking for valuable water springs and minerals deposits. Extensive ground surveys need to be done by a geological survey team. It doesn’t have any weapons or armor

    geological survey team
it is a semi wheeled truck filled with a team of experts on ground analysis. The truck itself has all the equipment onboard to fully survey the surroundings. Such as a drill and seismic ground analyzer. It also have limited mapmaking abilities. They can work fully independent of any command center and will work very fast. It doesnt have any defensive capabilities

    Job-description:*
before the ground can be used at utmost efficiency you will need to know what the ground is made of. A geological survey team will study just that. It makes detailed reports about what the ground is made up of. It also searched for anomalies in the ground configuration. Like underground springs and mineral deposits. It cant give any information about native flora and fauna except if about ground fertility.

    biological survey team*
it is a wheeled truck filled with a team of experts on flora and fauna. It has its own laboratory onboard to analyze samples. It also has 2 armed guards to protect it self against small threats but is has no armor. They can work fully independent of any command center and will work very fast.

    Job-description:
to know something about native flora and fauna you will need this teams. It can get precise information about plant life and also about animals

    * could mixed them up into one unit

Just putting it here to make all unit related stuff neat. While reviving this thread.

Thread update and Revive potion to keep up the unit discussions...

        - Psychic - a unit that is devoted to being psychic for the paticluar government. He/She is sort of like a spy yet doesn't do any damage. He/She only finds out information about the other faction(s).

        - Spy - A unit that Sabotages other factions plans and/or anything else. Also can be used for informational purposes yet does not do it well.

        ~Added ones~

        - transport helicopter
(can transport one infantry unit X tiles away. cant land on slopes, sea, 'fungus', tile occupied by another player, can take of from carrier)

        - fighter
(airunit for air-to-air combat [100%], can take of from carrier)

        - attackplane
(airunit for air-to-air[40%] and air-to-ground[60%] combat, can trake off from carrier)

        - bomber
(airunit for air-to-ground[100%] combat, cant take off from carrier)

        - support ship
        (supplies ships)

        - escort ship
(fast, light armored ship to escort carrier, support ships and landers)

        - landingcraft
(can carry X units over shallow waters)

        - transport ship
(supplies ships[10%],ground[10%] units, transports X units over all sea tiles)

        - Infantry: Guys with guns. Depend on terrain for most of their defensive skill, with armour playing only a small role.

        - Rovers: Quads, trikes and bikes. Fast, and reasonably deadly, especially over flat ground. Little armour, and much less ability to use terrain defensively.

        - Mechanised infantry: Guys with guns in armoured vehicles. Reasonable armour, and able to use terrain quite well. Much faster than infantry, slightly less than the rover.

        - Armour: Tanks. Powerful weapons, strong armour, pretty fast. Can't use terrain very well.

        - attacksub
(invisible for surface-radar, can only be spotted by X type units, can only attack naval units[100%])

        - tacticalsub
(invisible for surface-radar, can only be spotted by Xtype units, can only attack naval units[30%], can launch any missile[70%])

        - commandship
(naval unit that can only be build ones for every 10 other naval units in your military, give a morale + modifier to ships in X tile radius, and sees submarines in the direct area)

        - transporters
(airunit for transport of tanks[85%], supplies[15%] bases and groundunits, cant land on carrier)

        - C[lose]A[ir]S[upport] unit
(airunit for support of ground units, air-to-ground attack against units that are not in a base is 150% of normal)

        - Skimmers: Very lightly armoured boats. Can't travel across oceans, only suitable for rivers and coastal areas. Able to use terrain effectively, only problem is that the sea is generally lacking in terrain. A naval equivalent of infantry.

        - Hydrofoil: Speedy, oceangoing boat. Not much in the way of weapons, but tougher than the skimmers.

        - Destroyer: Medium armour, little terrain using ability, plenty of weapons. Fast.

        - Cruiser: Heavy armour (including a double-hull option), unable to utilise terrain, cramed with weapons. Quite fast.

        -Cargo Plane:
Carrying troops, Vehicles, and so forth. Similar to the C-130 yet more advanced. Carries tanks and heavy equipment as well as people(s)

        - Carrier sub: A large submarine that can be equipped with strike subs, aircraft, helicopters or missiles, depending on what you fit to it. Terrain-using: poor.

        - Predator sub: A small/medium sized sub with a wide array of possible roles, including carrier sub killing, anti-aircraft duty, coastal attack and stealthy observation. Very fast. Terrain-using: good

        - Strike sub: A small sub which is treated like an underwater aircraft. Doesn't have the range of an aircraft, and can only travel through water, but is still deadly to shipping and coastal installations. Terrain-using: medium.

        - Flying sub: This is a machine that can swim through water and fly through the air. It's launched from a base or carrier. It can dodge air defences by going underwater, and sea defences by flying. Terrain using: medium.

        - Bubble sub: create gaseous bubble where it can move quickly almost like airplane. The disadvantage is that it generates like mad, giving away its position en-route.
Scout blimp: early scouting aircraft. Slow, increased sighting radius...

        - Burrowing unit: can move underground. Can bypass city defenses, ignores zoc's...

        - "Spider-scout": fast (all terrain as flat), has multiple attacks (?)...

        - Von Neumann nano probes: A mini device used to explore, and spy. More information on this unit is located in this thread.

-Task force unit: A Task Force such as "The Delta Force" in USA. This unit would do a variety of Special Operations

-Demolition Squad: This unit would go and blow up different enemy buildings such as improvements that were made upon the land. They would do it better than a regular unit.

-Terrorists: A neutral unit that would be roaming the globe destroying things much like mindworms in SMAC. These terrorists would do massive damage to everything.

        -Garrison patrol:
Consist out of 5 to 10 standard soldiers. Armed with standard 12mm high powered semi automatic weapons. Light padded body armor. One squad leader and one comminations officer stand out among the other soldiers.

I think fuel planes (or the concept of fuel as in SMAC) do not make sense, given the strategic scope of the game. Fighters take off, do their thing and go back to base during one turn anyway (instead of taking years and years to travel a few thousand kilometers...) so refueling can safely be abstracted away, in my opinion.

                  New one(s):

-SharpShooters (Snipers): Sharpshooter says it all, they hide and snipe out the enemy forces one by one and eventually killing the entire unit or only killing the Leader making the unit disband. Team compliment of about 10 people. The Snipers rarely get injured nor seen. Where ever they go fear is known...

-Supply Convoy: Supplies the front with Supplies for all units within the specified area. It is land based not sea based.

-Command Rover: A unit for in the battlefield, it would give the units moral boosts, Training, Experiance, Making it need little support, Making the units fight more willingly and will stop any infiltrations.
This command rover is just a mobile command field base.

                  Udated list:

                  - Psychic - a unit that is devoted to being psychic for the paticluar government. He/She is sort of like a spy yet doesn't do any damage. He/She only finds out information about the other faction(s).

                  - attacksub

                  Job-description:
Protect base region that they are stationed in against outside attack and act as police force when necessary.

                  -recon flyer:
this is a light prop aircraft with up front a big bulb for the pilot and 3 observers. Extensive ground surveys need to be done by a geological survey team. It doesn’t have any weapons or armor

                  -geological survey team:
it is a semi wheeled truck filled with a team of experts on ground analysis. The truck itself has all the equipment onboard to fully survey the surroundings. Such as a drill and seismic ground analyzer. It also have limited mapmaking abilities. They can work fully independent of any command center and will work very fast. It doesnt have any defensive capabilities
                  Job-description:
before the ground can be used at utmost efficiency you will need to know what the ground is made of. A geological survey team will study just that. It makes detailed reports about what the ground is made up of. It also searched for anomalies in the ground configuration. Like underground springs and mineral deposits. It cant give any information about native flora and fauna except if about ground fertility.

                  -biological survey team:
it is a wheeled truck filled with a team of experts on flora and fauna. It has its own laboratory onboard to analyze samples. It also has 2 armed guards to protect it self against small threats but is has no armor. They can work fully independent of any command center and will work very fast:
Job-description: To know something about native flora and fauna you will need this teams. It can get precise information about plant life and also about animals

-SharpShooters (Snipers): Sharpshooter says it all, they hide and snipe out the enemy forces one by one and eventually killing the entire unit or only killing the Leader making the unit disband. Although I do not form part of this project, I would like to post some units ideas, if I am allowed to, of course.

                    Here they are:

1)MSG (Mobile Shield Generator): Mechanical all terrain heavy unit, carring a mobile carbon shield generator. It protects the units/city in the area the MSG is stationated. Very slow, but quite usefull to protect far away cities without much protection.

2)Enraged: Psy berzerker unit. Byproducts of failed empathic experimentation.

3)Hover Airbase: Much like an all-terrain aircraft carrier. Can move by almost any kind of land (exept highly pronounced ones, such as mountains, chasms, etc). Capable of carring several air units or land ones.

4)Population Carrier: Train-shaped hover unit, used to transport population from one settlement to another. Very fast, but very weak as well.

5)Mind Probe: When in contact with an enemy unit, instead of combat, the Mind Probe has a determined chance of introducing itself in the enemy unit's brain. Is succesfull, the probe will send visual information to the owner (the owner will be able to see what the unit sees, as if it were his).

6)Sky Battlefortress: Heavily armored, very well defended flying base. When hovering, can only be attacked by air or anti air units. Can land. The fortress can hold large numbers of land units. When in land, it recieve defense bonuses like a city would do (with the apropiate defenses, of course).

7)Gonghead Destroyer: Heavily armored sea unit. It's name comes from it's caracteristic curve frontal part.

8)Neutron Missile: Kills large amounts of population withoit harming the structures. Also turns ever fertile area around the target into a barren wasteland.

9)Phosphorous Missile: Completely inutilizes any mechanical unit in the range of attack. Also stops production in a city for several turns.

10)Battlefield Medic: Help recover units in the battlefield.

11)Battlefield Engineer: Help repair mechanical units in the battlefield. Can help production of mechanical units in cities as well.

12)Underground Shaker: Big subterranean machine that can be deployed under enemy cities (once deployed, it can not be moved nor undeployed). The machine will remain dormant until the moment it's owner decides to use it. If used, the shaker will simulate the effects of a heavy earthquake, heavily damaging the city. Since it is subterranean, is very slow, but it can not be visualy detected.

13)Thermal Granadier: Unit equiped with dangerous thermal grenades, very usefull against any kinds of units, but very weak, and with chances of blowing itself up when attacked. Can bombard.

14)Airmines: A hovering swarm of explosive motion-detector mines, that can be deployed anywhere, and will heavily damage any fliying unit that crosses it (friend or foe).

15)Punisher: Speciall psy operations unit. Greatly decreases the happines of a city and can make enemy untis to flee.

Thank you very much Thiorn! I was just asking Rasbey if you would join and he didn't get an application so he couldn't say but if you would like to then please do so! Now is the best time to join cause the new site is comming up and we are starting to make major changes in StP and there has been a jump in progress since when I first joined. Actually When I joined there wasn't even a team yet. Rasbey brought the Team into a team. ok enough of StP history lets discuss this topic...

As for your units, I like them alot.
They are really nice Units and to tell you the truth I was running out of Ideas.

Space units are under debate with the Design Poll(s). So Once decided I will begin a list of Stellar Units.
