  • Red Front problem - Germans loose a turn?

Ok, I am trying this scenario once again.

Between my first and second turn, june 1941 and july 1941 Germans on their turn kill a couple of units near Odessa, Finns kill a couple North of Leningrad and I get two or so popups telling me Britain allied with me.

German units outside Minsk and all other German units dont do a thing!?

Is this intended to be so, or is it a bug?

Scenario is 1.4 (is there newer version?) and version of MGE is with the 1.3 patch.

I think it is a bug, but it is a known bug that doesn't affect the gameplay enough. A similar thing used to happen in 2194 Days of War, and the Russian player used to get 2 turns.

I dont know how much it affects the gameplay, I am not sure how many turns there are in total.

But I would like to know is this normal or not? If I wasnt clear: most of German units just sit through their turn. On their next turn they continue full scale attack.

I know hundreds of people have played this scenario... someone must know for sure is it a bug or a feature.

It would be rather strange if its a bug... I mean I have the normal configuration, someone would have already noticed it and fixed it.

Maybe that German turn is meant only to deliver the messages that Britain allied with SSSR and that there will be convoys in Murmansk?

It happens to me more often than not when I play Red Front. Don't complain, you should be very, very thankful the Germans miss a turn - it's hard enough already!

AFAIK the only German units that will attack that turn are units which did not move the previous turn.

          aha!

yeah I know. this is my second go at the scenario, I tried it long time ago before but didnt finish it.

but now I do a good job of preparing, you know how long it takes, and the Germans dissapoint me...

AFAIK the only German units that will attack that turn are units which did not move the previous turn.

          yes, that might be it.

So my question to you is, do you know how to avoid it?

I thought it had something to do with soviet partisans being created by events.

I think Cavalcadeus is correct. I think the partisans are created by the destruction of refugees fleeing from the western region on the German player turn. Since the Soviets move before the Germans in this scenario, the event-created partisans get their June 41 turn immediately after the German June 41 turn is complete, and then the Soviet gets his full July 41 turn. Think of it as a "free" turn, and don't squander it.

I think its not a bug. The movementpoints of most german units has been set to zero so they dont move at the first turn. The same feature is used for the soviet player, so only few units are able to move at the first turn. Try to unfortify or awake sleeping units from sentry. nothing will happen.

I think I remember Nemo mentioning something like that back when the scenario was released. It might be in one of those countless RF threads in the league forum, though I don't know if it still exists. As far as I remember, that was indeed intentional.

I was thinking it was a feature. Now I can get my ass kicked in peace
