  • Need Help With Modern Aircraft

Ok, i'm making a scenario that will soon be released unto the world for review et all. It's been in secret design for about three months now and is coming along nicely.

However, i'm having trouble deciding how to distribute some final numbers for units in the scenario. So, since 99% of us are perfectionists, I ask my comrades of Civ.

    The following aircraft will be in the scenario;
    Jaguar
    Mirage III
    F-5
    F-16
    F-117A
    AT-26
    Alpha-Jet
    MiG-23

Now, what number values and special abilities should I give these aircraft? They all HAVE to be in the scenario, but I want them to be different in some respects, so that their abilities can be reflected in-game.

Both the Jaguar and F-117A have In-Flight Refueling capabilities, so, for one, i'm thinking of giving them a range of 0, like a chopper, to represent that.

Any help will be greatly appreciated and reflected by a large blurb in the readme about your glorious persona.

Aircraft with a range of 0 can capture cities.
Perhaps you could give them low movement points, but a long range...

I would make the 117 such that it cannot attck air units in flight, but can have multiple ground attacks per sortie. Much like many Stukas in WWII scens.

F-117s can only carry two air-to-ground missiles, that makes no sense to let them attack more than once on a sortie.

I was thinking more of in the sense that it can escape undetected and then can return home. I didnt know how many missiles it had, but having it stop after one attack only to be shot down (let alone spotted) by a MiG seems odd too.

Once I get back from break I might be able to take care of the F-16 and F-117 and the MiG-23 by ripping them from Falcon 4.0

I might even be able to rip the Mirage III from Falcon 3.0

I don't know if you are using Nemo style units or not, but if you are, I have an F-16 you can have, and I am pretty sure Case has some Modern Aircraft for the scenario he made about China...

DV - That'd be awesome man! Perfect for the scenario!

Pap, all the units are high-res, either from the his-res mod, created by myself, or scavenged elsewhere. It's a VERY realistic scenario.

Hmmm, maybe I could make a carrier-esque refueling plane that can sortof "hold" the F-117A's so that, in a sense, they'd be refueling in-flight but not be able to attack twice. Hmmm, I dunno.

Aircraft given the carrier flag can 'hold' aircraft, but can only move 1 unit per turn

Still, if they start off on their refueling station, then this wouldn't be a problem (i.e.: for a Gulf War scenario, place some KC-135's over the gulf and northern Saudi Arabia)

Well, there's enough cities on the map so that refueling won't be much of a problem. It's just that I wanted to simulate that somehow in the actual aircraft. Making the difference between planes that have to refuel and those that don't obvious.

Just about every western aircraft refuels during a standard combat mission. It seems to be standard practice to never enter enemy airspace without a full tank of fuel.
