  • Second Reich (take 2)

    Order of turns:

    Germans - Scott F (sfluhr@indiana.edu)
    Austro-Hungarians - El Awrence (m_carreras@hotmail.com
    Italians - Soundwave (seanie_babes@hotmail.com)
    Russians - Magyar Crusader (mihaly@jeszenka.com)
    Allies - The ANZAC (theanzac@optonline.net)

I've started a new thread for this to make it more orderly. Anyway, I made the update, so please download it and replace your old files. Remember to load rulesendturn.txt at the end of your turn (sorry I didn't create a batch file to process this) to avoid the bug I had. I'm not sure if it will work or not but hopefully it will! If you want to know what changes I made just read the end of the last thread.

Germany's move. And again, I think this should be hotseat instead of PBEM. ANZAC, it's gonna be your responsibility to run delevent.exe on the game and load each year's events.

MC, you didn't extend the western front fortification line all the way down to Switzerland. There is still a gap there.

Below are just minor nitpicks that I should have thought up and pointed out earlier, but didn't.

The Austrian-Italian front is still off a bit. The fortification line should run up from Trieste, east, and then down, to Trento, and then northwest until it touches the impassable units that shelter and surround the Bolshevik city.

As another minor nitpick, Venice is too far to the west, and to force the Italians to defend that pocket between Trieste and Trento, you should put another Italian city in there (Udine?).

There are also several open unit slots. These might be good for things like Serbian infantry, Rumanian infantry, Greek infantry, and even Belgian infantry (would be wiped out in the initial attack). Another possibility might be a flamethrower unit. That could replace the German infantry in the partisan slot, that way it could excel at killing machine guns.

Anyhow, I intend to do a few test plays to see how things go and post my turn tomorrow (unless you decide to do another quick update).

Also, if there is enough units space, can you arrange it so that the various allies can negotiate and talk with each other?

                (sigh)

I didn't completely trench off the border between Austria and Italy because I wanted some diversity and to allow at least some mobility. But if you guys really want it...

The extra unit slots would be doable. I do like the suggestion about the flamethrower unit.

However, I can't do any of this today... so if you want this update you'll have to wait till at least tomorrow.

SunTzu, if you want you can be Russia, and I'll sit this one out.

Actually, my dad comes from a town nearby Udine and during WWI it was a major headquarters for the Italians. When I visted it a while ago, I remember that there were many artillery implacements and fortifications still standing. So add Udine.

ANZAC, do you have any Australian or New Zealand heritage?

                            let the threadjacking commence!

On of my Great Grand Uncles was killed at Lone Pine in Galipoli, and another earned the Military Cross for rescue work under machine gun fire in France.

How many cities are there on the map? It seems from eyeballing it that it's quite close to the 255 limit. If that is the case, why not just add enough cities to meet that limit?

Also, why does the Russian infantry have an amphibious tag?
