  • Max unit COST

Just a question - what is the maximum unit cost? I want units as expensive as a wonders
(Troian horse, Dulle Griet, papal guard, Titanic, Big Bertha, The Hindenburg).

By editing the rules.txt you can make units very expensive. The problem is that if you buy that unit you will actually get money instead of loos it. The maximum is 137, then you won't get any money for buying.

137, of course... why didn't I get it right away

How much money do you get when you buy such a unit with a higher cost?

That depends on the cost. Check out John Petroski's New Germany scenario and buy a Fortification. Instead of a high unit cost for the (for instance) Titanic you can let it pop up with events. Just put the prequisit to NO and make it pop up with an event like "Recieved Technology" or something.

Mark L, how can the maximum for buying units without gaining money be 137, when Battleships, Carriers, Nuclear Missiles and Stealth Bombers all cost 160 shields each ?

I sure never gained any money from buying those...

That number of 137 is definatly wrong, in my rules.txt nukes costs 300.
I once saw that there was a limit but I cannot remember how high it was.

The 137 number is correct, but in the FW edtiors that number is multplied by 10, so the maximum cost is 1370

You're actually wrong, max unit cost is not actually 137. It's about 22.

Sure you can pump it up to 137, but strange things happen.

One strange thing I've noticed is that if you go to buy the unit after so long, the game will actually pay YOU. (Think, make money and get an incredible unit at the same time! woohoo!)

There is a way around this though. Make units that aren't so expensive in the shield department, or modify the multiplyer and make everything cheaper (but of course the modifier would be the base cost).

It can't be 22, or 220. That's way to low. And I think it is 137 (x10), and so does mr.temba who knows a bit about scenario creation.

Dracon: I have no idea why they did this (multiplying the cost by 10) but they did. Just read the manual for FW.

I didn't sya you couldn't push it past 22, I just said that 22 is the largest number before errors start occuring when you buy the unit.

It can't be 22 since some regular units cost more then that. It is 137.
