  • I was walking through the park one day...

Maybe this is news... maybe not...

As I was messing around while creating Red Cataclysm (which will never be released do to Hard Drive crash), I came across maybe something that somebody could use.

Yes... this was in MGE for all you ToT worry warts.

The ownership, as far as resources go, of a square depends on whoever had the unit in the square first.

For example, what I did is I put down two static factory units in the same square. The first was North Korean, and the second belonged to the U.N. The resource tile could be worked by North Korea and North Korea alone.

From a graphics standpoint, the first unit is the one displayed, following in order.

Why is this useful you ask? Well, If the south were to bomb the North Korean square containing the two units, the North Korean unit would die while the South Korean unit remained, leaving a square that could no longer be used by the North.

Say it were a factory square (mine) ala Red Front. Then you could set up a strategic bombing situation.

Do note that the SK unit will have to be rediculously strong to discourage the AI/player from attacking it and therefore negating the idea of the strategic bombing.

The only problem is there is no real way to get the square back from the North Korea standpoint.

I didn't get the chance to test out what happens if you place multiple units (more than two), or what happens with more than two civs, or what happens with alternating unit placement.

    interesting?

Not another hard drive crash killing off a scenario. Civ 2 players must have the most unstable computers in the world

I think I can see a use for that tip - thanks a lot

I used to sing this when I was a kid.

I was walking through the park one day
In the merry month of May
When I was taken by supprise
By a pair of lovey eyes
      .......

But I just can't remeber the last line.

Ohh man. I had a virus the other week that totally messed up my 'puter. I was this close---> II to having to reformat my whole deal, and therefore would've only had my playtest versions of Stalingrad on other folks' computers to continue building with. Apparently the virus struck my master boot record. My pc had no idea that it was a Windows 98 machine!!! Thankfully, my friend is a lan admin. and he came over with a whole suitcase full of disks. He fixed me right up and after watching him spend 3 hours in the Atari Quadrant (read: DOS mode) he was able to get be back to speed without any problems.

So have I backed everything up yet after learning my lesson.... Uhhh.

Strolling Through The Park One Day
          Music and Lyrics Ed Haley

          (Refrain)
While strolling through the park one day
In the merry merry month of May
          I was taken by surprise
By a pair of roguish eyes
In a moment my poor heart was stole away

A smile was all she gave to me

Of course we were as happy as can be

Ah! I immediately raised my hat
          And finally she remarked
          I never shall forget
          That lovely afternoon
I met her at the fountain in the park
