  • Help with Test of Time!

After about a year and a half of not playing Civ I decided to try out some of the scenarios here, only to find that my Civ II disk had been lost. So I was forced to order Test of Time, as the original is no longer for sale. Unfortunately, when I tried to play them, it says the file is in an "obsolete format." I tried switching the files around, but according to my computer "there is no need to modify its [program files'] contents."
Does anyone have any advice or know where I can download ToT-friendly scenarios?

Then go to the Art of War forum on these boards to read my Hispaniola strategy.
There's also a Great Game strategy on the Art of War site.

Personally I didn't like test of time, I am not sure why. So I would tell you to sell it on E-bay and find a copy of MGE on Ebay. You can get it for about 10 bucks. If you insist on keeping ToT I believe there is a utility out here that will convert the scenarios. I will see if I can find it and be back.

Angelo Scotto's "CivConverter" utility is available here:

From what I understand of that Civ game of yours, it's all about launching one's own spaceship before the others do. So this is no big news after all: my father just beat you all to the stars once more. - Philippe Baise

"system cannot find the path specified.)

Electronics Boutique or Babbages should still sell MGE and/or FW. I bought two more copies of FW since I wore my first CD out.

The customized units don't show up when they're activated-anyone have any idea how to fix this?
I.e. when it's the "Boer Commando"'s turn it appears as an elephant, but say the British turn the right picture appears.

It's because of the animation. If you toggle "animations off" it might work. Not sure. Damn ToT...

Just move the .spr files to a different directory. Voila, problem solved.

WV, that's what I originally thought the problem was, but that option was grayed out on the scenario. I was able to change it playing a regular game, and it stayed off when I started a new scenario, so the graphics all work now.
                        Thanks.
