Let's try to get this thing going again...Leo appears to have already suggest a scenario...so have I. But we need to keep it in one place as to avoid move confusion. First off, who is still interested in this?

Scenario of the Week Club

I was wondering if anyone was still interested in this; who else was in it last time around?"Paul Hanson, you should give Gibraltar back to the Spanish" - Paiktis, dramatically over-estimating my influence in diplomatic circles.
Eyewerks - you know you want to visit. No really, you do. Go on, click me.
-
I was wondering if you gentlemen would explain what the scenario of the week club is for us poor unfortunates who have not heard about this before
And... can anyone join?
Thanks.

Leo, the concept is a fairly simple one:
Every week (or was it two weeks now?) each of us reccomends a lesser known scenario for Civ2 FW (...or was it MGE? I think it was just FW). He also gives us a link to where we can get the scenario. Then we play it and come back to discuss and review it. Then, after that scenario is done, the next person on the list reccomends a scenario that he found online. There is a cycle and a list so it doesn't get too confusing. I think that's about it right guys?
Yes, I'm pretty sure anyone can join; Hell, they let me in didn't they?Who wants DVDs? Good prices! I swear!

I never left so I'm in. There is just one little problem for me right now...
It is impossible for me right now to play Civ!
I am not at home and this PC has no Civ and I forgot to bring it along, I know that was an unforgiving crime but it happened, you know, and I won't be back home until the 19th of August so I guess you will have to do the first round with out me. I'm very sorry for it
And Mao you got the rules all correct, it was also mainly FW but a good CiC can't hurt either I think...

Hey everyone. Count me in on this. Lets all set a date. Hopefully it should be just one week as the last time the club got buried under the Red Front 1.4 release. 1884v2 is this weeks scenario... Is that all agreed? I found the link its
link
So everyone who wants in, join today and come by August 16 to talk about this scenario.

I swear it was version 7. I think it was on Apolyton too. This is the readme to it:
quote:
1884 - Age of Imperialism v7.0
Changes in v7.0: Sound no longer shipped with zip-file;
Advanced Navigation now available
Changes in v6.0: Improved sound and Poison Gas now available
Changes in v5.0: Now available in German!
Changes in v4.0:
- removed bugs like harbors in inland cities
- distribution of city improvements made more realistic
(e.g. no more university in Anchorage or Reykjavik)
- some minor changes in the rules.txt file
- events.txt now featured.
My motivation to make this scenario came from my disappointment
about the "1900" scenario (can be found on CivII Heaven;
the 1900 scenario actually starts in 1875 ... ), which is not
very accurate about geographical and historical content (I tried
to contact the author about it, but it appears his e-mail has
changed ... ).
I do not claim that my solution is 100% correct. But I tried
to stick to real history as close as possible.
Here are some changes I've made:
Central Europeans - I've merged the Spanish - the once most
important colonial power which was in a state of final
decline in the last years of the 19th century -, the Dutch
a colonial power whose power was very limited in the relevant
period of time -, the Scandinavian states and their outposts
- minor powers but yet some kinda colonial -,the Italians -
a minor colonial power which only became a bit relevant
between 1910 and 1943, the Austro-Hungarians - no colonial
power at all, but a multi-national imperial state which was
about to break up -, the Ottoman Empire (Istambul and Baghdad)
- an empire in decline which was closely linked to Germany
and Austro-Hungaria which became very clear in WW I when the
Ottomans sided with the Central Powers - and the Germans -
the rising colonial power of the time which founded several
colonies all over the world after the Congo Conference in
Berlin (1884/1885) decided to divide up Africa among the
European colonial powers.
I did this for better gameplay, because I think that the
interests of all these powers were about the same (except
maybe the Netherlands). When you look at the Pacific Ocean
islans of the time, you see, that Germany was the direct
successor of Spain in regard to the Micronesian Islands and
Samoa.
The Japanese - already are on Corean soil (which they would
only have been c. 10 years later in real history)
The Free Peoples (Neutral) - Consist of some independent
states with - at that point of time - different tech levels.
I solved this by giving them very low tech, but I put more
advanced units and city improvements in some towns.
The Nations: Tech level:
Argentina/Brazil/Chile High
Peru/Columbia/Mexico/Venezuela Medium
Persia/Arabia Low
Ethiopia Low
Liberia Low
China/Mongolia/Tibet Medium / High
--- SOUND SUPPORT ---
To get the right sound for every unit, copy the sounds from
the CiC-CD scenario WW1 to a directory named "sound" in your
"1884" directory. Rename custom2.wav to custom1.wav. Also copy
infantry.wav (from WW1/sound) several times and rename it
custom3.wav. Do the same thing with cavalry.wav and call it
swrdhors.wav.
Or e-mail me and I will send you a zip-file of the sound files
you'll need.
Some of the graphics in this scenario are, well, not quite
professional, so if you can do better ones, please let me
know. I also need good unitsgrafix for some new scenarios
I'm planning. If you're interested, please contact me.

>>> MANY THANKS TO:
- Matthias Mathes and Bruno Rakos for beta-testing
- Mike D. McCart for putting this scenario on his site
- Dirk Weber for helping me with the "partisan problem" <<<
Have fun playing!
Is that the same you have?
If not, I could give it to someone else to post on their site.Who wants DVDs? Good prices! I swear!
