Stefan, this looks like some great events...

Are you going to have a specific Human player? If you set the French up as the Human player, do look at my events1 for Red Front there are some tricks to getting an aggressive AI (Prussians) to move consistently. But if it's for play from the Prussian/German side, I think it doesn't matter... The French were very "static" in 1870.

          Some important units:
Observation balloons, also used by Gambetta to escape from Paris.
German had breechloading rifles and cannon the French still had mostly muzzle-loading weapons.

A few minor suggestions on your events text:

          ^^WEIßENBURG STORMED
^August 4th. Combined Bavarian and Prussian forces fight together for the first time in history.
1,460 German soldiers killed, the French casualties total 2,100 men. Insufficient artillery preparation and futile infantry charges cost the Germans dearly. They carry the day only because of their numerical superiority nad not on superior strategy.

          ^^GERMAN VICTORY AT WÖRTH
^German infantry forces from Württemberg, Silesia, West Prussia, Thuringia, Hessen,Westphalia and Bavaria win an overwhelming victory at Wörth and Weissenburg. The Prussian army is now able to move forward into Alsace [Elsaß].

          ^^GERMANS DEFEAT ARMY OF MAC-MAHON
After a battle that lasted 15 hours, the 5th Prussian Corps under the command of general Von Montbary defeats the army of French general Mac-Mahon. The German casualties are by far higher than those at Weißenburg: 10,153 soldiers and 489 officers killed.

          ^^FRENCH TROOPS RETREAT FROM SAARBRÃœCKEN
French troops retreat from Saarbrücken and await the Germans at Spichern and Forbach; 23,000 Infantry, 2,400 Cavalry and 90 Artillery pieces are positionned there, under command of General Fossard.

^^GERMANS STORM FRENCH OCCUPIED FORTRESS OF SPICHERN
4,648 German soldiers and 223 officers are killed storming the French-held fortress of Spichern.
"The Infantry must stop this Berzerker-like storming against the foe," says Bismarck, "because good blood as our soldier's is rare in the world".

          ^^GERMANS STORM NANCY
"It takes 5 German horsemen to storm a city of 60,000 people" (French quote). It actually required 150 German cavalrymen to take Nancy. The city was plundered and vandalized. 50,000 Francs were taken.

          ^^BAZAINE HALTS GERMAN ADVANCE
In an attempt to meet up with the army of Mac-Mahon at Chalons-sur-Marne and to stall the German advance on Metz, General Bazaine fights the German army at Colombey-Nouilly. The battle is undecided, but the Germans have gained time (momentum?).

            "Is this your "great surprise"?"

No, my great surprise was published last night on CSC.

            "Bravo! Can I help?"

Sure! Every help is accepted! Please eMail me and I'll tell you what I need.

Nemo: How did you know what this scenario is about ? Well, seems obvious, eh?

It'll be a simple scenario about the Franco-Prussian War of 1870. I made this events file last night. It is only a rough start, going from Weißenburg to the first part of the battle of Metz. It will be playable from either the German or the Imperial French side. Further civs included: Republican French, Neutrals.
            Release date: I believe February.
I need a lot of units!!!!!!!!!

              ^^WILHELM I. BECOMES GERMAN EMPEROR
January 18th. In a great ceremony in the mirror hall of Versailles, the Prussian king Wilhelm I. is proclaimed emperor of Germany by the German nobles.
With this ceremonial act in the defeated land of the enemy, the German national state -long dream of the liberal popular movement- becomes reality. Before the background of the siege of Paris, in the circle of Military officers and diplomats, the assembled German nobles also back the claim of the politically suprerior position in the new German national state.
As strong as the symbolic ceremony and national joy may be, it remains -as Otto von Bismarck formulates- "a difficult emperor birth". Until the end, Wilhelm refused to accept the title of a "German Emperor". This is the title of a "Character major", only a name, that doesen't give special rights or power. If it had to be, then he wanted to be "Emperor of Germany". His son-in law, the Grand Duke of Baden, went around this problem as he shouted out "Hail to Kaiser Wilhelm!".

Ein dreifaches Hoch auf Kaiser und Reich!

I hope you have Michael Howard's book, "The Franco-Prussian War". It's very readable, and contains lots of useful information. No graphics, though.

From what I understand of that Civ game of yours, it's all about launching one's own spaceship before the others do. So this is no big news after all: my father just beat you all to the stars once more. - Philippe Baise
