What specifically determines which advances are given by goody huts? Is there a limited, pre-invention tech list, does it use a tech's "era" modifier, or does it start from the earliest and keep going up to space flight, provided the player doesn't get Invention? I haven't found an FAQ that tells.

Try William Keenan's 'Barbarian Paper' on the Cradle of Civilization site, here: http://coc.apolyton.net/

No luck...the Barbarian Paper, useful as it is, only covers goody hut barbarians and mercenaries. I'd like to know about the civ advances the game gives you early on. Thanks anyway.

Sorry, I thought your question was broader. As far as I can tell, the goody hut will give you only techs which are currently resarchable by you.

Thanks, I'll try that out. On another "help me" note, do you know the current e-mail of the guy who made that FF2 modpack you told me about? I e-mailed him to ask permission to use some of his terrain files in my FF scenario but the server told me "no such address," or some such. Any ideas? Or, if you don't want to go advertising the guy's e-mail, do you know any boards he frequents or anything? I realize it's a major longshot that you'd know anything, but I'm sort of at wit's end...

No. I found it on Dustin Dunn's old site, once one of the pre-eminent Civ2 sites, now sadly dormant. Dustin might know. http://dsquared.fiwh.com/civ2/ BTW, I'm not sure you need permission, as long as you acknowledge his work.
