  • Redundant reds

No, not out of work communists, but the first 2 reds in the civ2 pallette. I think this is a problem only for some computers, mine included, but it bugs me that I can never use the 2 lightest reds in any graphics I produce (pallette index 97 and 98), as they appear light green in the game. Wierdly, other people's graphics that I've pasted into a units file seem ok with the light reds.

Does anyone know of a fix for this?

    fairlane,

What are your RGB settings for pallete index 97 and 98?
Mine are certainly not the same:

    97
    R:231
    G:0
    B:0

    98
    R:215
    G:0
    B:0

      FMK, mine are:

      97:
      R: 243
      G: 0
      B: 0

      98:
      R:231
      G: 0
      B: 0

      why is that?

243,0,0 is pallete index #96 for me. It seems you are 1 pallete slot ahead of things? What gfx program are you using?

I initially thought that as well, but red # 98 is 214,0,0, not 215,0,0. I'm using psp 7.

It appears I've got 2 different palettes in use for 2 randomly selected units files

My reds with a second unit file are:
          96: 243,0,0 97: 231,0,0 98:214,0,0 99:198,0,0
          100: 182,0,0 101: 166,0,0 102: 150,0,0 103: 134,0,0

I guess the only difference between this one and your palette is #98 ?

Well this is what I suggest to you. I have PSP7 as well. Open yourself up a well trusted units or terrain file. I do not suggets Nemo's as he sometimes replaced a grey for the pink. Just anyone you know who's scenario's work. Go to Colors> save pallete. I saved mine as CivOrig and I slap in on over any piece of civwork I do.

To make things easy, I'll attatch a zip of my civ pallete. Place in C:\Program Files\Jasc Software Inc\Paint Shop Pro 7

            -FMK.

              Excellent!

I loaded your palette into a units file I was having problems with and I can now see #96, #97 and #98 reds in the game. Must have started out with 2 dodgy units files with different palettes.

              Thanks for your help FMK
