  • Scenario Event problem

    I am currently working on a ww2 scenario based in europe. Now I have one problem. After the Germans have taken Paris the rest of France (Vichy) should be allied with Germany. I do not have any idea how I can manage this problem.....

    In ToT, there is events flags to change the AI civ's diplo status with you.

    The best solution I found was to make the city of Vichy belong to a neutral and third party civ.

    That way Paris can be conquered and still leave historical cities intact...

    I found that doing the 1939-40 events is rather tricky.
    And getting the AI to invade France, Attack the UK and then storm Russia in sucession is a tricky events chain...

    I more less pulled it of in my WW2 "Dictator II" scenario...

    ToT has some really great events tools...

    Looking forward to seeing your scenario!

      Thats right. The events are rather tricky. One further problem is, that Germany is too peaceful. I solved the problem in my way. The scenario should be played on the german side so less events are needed. So it´s up to you how the scenario goes. There are 8 countries (US, GB, F, I, SU, Finland, Neutrals and Germany). Barbarians as Finland. The are soon attacked by the Sowjetunion. The techtree is rather small and is only complete for England and Germany. Two terrain types are included (summer and winter). The only problem for a future posting in the forum is the size. The total size is about 14 MB (No joke). The total scenario is full of sound events. So the sinking of a british battleship causes a text together with a historic soundfile sinking of the hood. So there are many sound based events like conquest of Paris, Stalingrad, fall of Berlin, Battle of Britain, Operation Barbarossa, end of war in africa, crossing the Rhine of the Americans and many more. Maybe I am creating a "light" version without sound effects. And furthermore there exists only a german version......

          if you zip the files, you'll cut down on a lot of space.

          post the game files seperately, and attach the sound files as seperate zips

            There is a way to do it via events by allowing SCHISM for France and leaving the 7th civ slot open. Name it Vichy of course.

            To do this remove any SCHISM events currently in your events.txt. Then add one for each nation except France.

            @IF
            NOSCHISM
            DEFENDER=Germany
            @THEN
            @ENDIF

            @IF
            NOSCHISM
            DEFENDER=Russia
            @THEN
            @ENDIF

            @IF
            NOSCHISM
            DEFENDER=America
            @THEN
            @ENDIF

            etc.

              I'm glad you brought that up. Has anyone ever done a significant test of the "schism" mechanism? I'm pretty sure the "loser" civ must have more cities than the aggressor, but is there any way to GUARANTEE a schism? THAT would be very helpful!

              From what I understand of that Civ game of yours, it's all about launching one's own spaceship before the others do. So this is no big news after all: my father just beat you all to the stars once more. - Philippe Baise

                Unfortunately all civ slots are already occupied. So maybe I will include SCHISM in my next scenario or in a later version of the existing one.

                The 14 MB were already zipped but soundfiles cannot be compressed very well. So yersterday night I stripped down the events and the soundfiles so "only" 9 MB are left for the scenario.
