Nope, unfortunately there is a set pattern and thats it as far as I know. Occasionally I hear of a randomly generated map having 2 specials close to one another at the Meridean. Where the map meets itself you know. I haven't seen it but I have read about such things. As far as what you are referring to, nope.
What you could do if mountains with gold is all that you are in search of, you could spare a single-tile terrain slot, make it look like a mountain with gold and give it the same stats, leave the specials of that slot blank and nameless, and then place this terrain next to the existing real mountain with gold special, and there you have it. Two 'golds' right next to each other on the map. Of course this can be done for however many citites you want, but it'll only solve your problem if you don't want to double every type of resource here and there.
Maybe you hexeditor/math whiz types could work on this? Is is something that is feasable?
Or, if you want to simulate it as a limited resource, create a unit like a mountain with gold.

or you could create a fortress on the terrain square in question, and fill it with numerous 'gold' units. Then the player can attack the units and earn money each time a gold unit is 'killed'
