  • Graphics needed

I need a unit graphic of the new kind of fortress that was intoduced during the 30 years war, the fortress kind I'm talking about looked like much like a star from above.

I don't know how to add a picture to my message, otherwise I would add a picture as well.

Try to search on the web for Lucca's fortifications... these walls were builded about in these times.

      Henrik,

I consider myself pretty good at making graphics, especially if I have an image to work, from.. send it on over .

I think you can just use tag like in html.

Just make sure to give an entire URL. Also I just found out you can use [ I M G ] http://web.address.com/graphic.gif [/I M G] with apolyton as a shortcut.

Henrik, you are speaking of a Vauban fortress, the trace italienne. In the Perry castenada map collection, there is a link for a site that has 20-30 maps of the characteristic star-shaped fortresses of this type. Try this site; http://grid.let.rug.nl/~welling/maps/blaeu.html

It may be difficult to create a graphic that perfectly duplicates these fortifications. When constructing The Modern Age, I used the city graphics from Jesus Munoz Fernandez' 30 Years War scenario to simulate these types of forts. The key was that these forts used earthen embankments more than walls, and the star shaped bastions provided converging fields of fire.

I know that I'm refering to a Vaubins Fortress. I just didn't know if everybody else knew of such a thing. I have a pretty good picture allready it's just that I aint good at creating graphics myself.
These fortresses played a very big role in the thirty years war and in the following years too.
This is why I need a unit graphic of it.

I don't need a perfect graphic it's just that I haven't founbd anything close to what I need.

There is a "Vauban Fortress" unit graphic in one of the "Exploration" scenarios. It is the "Struggle for Empire" Scenario by Jon Ellis. Personally, I'm not taken with this graphic--it's too simple. But it might be what you're looking for.

I've played the scenarios; both the scenarios are good (collonies II and Bonaparte) but the graphic could be of anything whit walls.

Try with Alternative building images for CTP2 . Then unpack it and look at fortress building TGA file...

Both the bastion pictures from the pack are good but I can't make them into units myselelf so they will have to serve as inspiration.

If I cannot mail you the pictures, how am I going to get them to you?
There are some at the link supplied by Exile above.
Also if you search the web for Tracee Italien, vaubins fortres or fortifications 17th century you are likely to find some images.

Well thanks to Arne I know have an exelent graphiv of a fortress of the Tracée Italien/Vaubin type.
The next graphic I lack is one of a revolting polish/lituan Peasent.
I've looked through all graphics I could find and I haven't found a suitable one.
If somebody would make me one I would really apriacate it (I am a lousy artist myself).
