  • Partisan effect with Barb cities?

Yeah, that´s the question: How can I have the partisans that normally pop up when I capture a city also with Barbarian cities (without events )? Is it possible?

    Hi Bernd.
Yes, it should be possible! The problem would be how to give the Barbarians the appropriate techs - not only "Gue" but also "Cmn".
But there sems to be a way - via hex editing:
    To quote Allard's updated guide
    quote:

This is very useful, however, for giving the Barbarians certain technologies. You might want to give them Guerrilla Warfare, for instance.

But also refer to WK's Barbarian paper to see what changes of the Barbarian type units appear once "Gue" is discovered.

P.S: I hope I can finish the mail soon...

I don't know if this works with Barbarians but if you give them the trigger techs that allow Partisans to appear it might work.
      Like Guerillia Warfare for example...

Also the size of a city has an effect on the number of partisans and how often it has already been captured.

I don't think you can give the barbarians the tech you want unless you make them early in the tech tree. I'm sure y'all have noticed that when the barbarians have a lot of cities they generate research and can obtain a few techs. I tried to give them the Great Library once but it didn't work. The game may not allow the changes that go into effect with a new tech on barabrians.

Mike, you're right, but by hex-editing, you can give them techs even though they're not discovering it themselves. You can give them anything you like with the same effects as with any other civ. Indeed, with some limitations, the barbarians áre the 8th civ. You can give them Democracy, with unbribable cities, or Guerilla Warfare, with partisans, or everything. It doesn't mean they will built improvements by themselves, or build better units, but there are some things that even the stupidity of barbarians can't help, such as the creation of partisans.

I know you said without events but
I wonder if using events to give the barbarians the proper advances to generate partisans would work.

              Thanks for the advice, guys!

Hex-editing seems to be the right way, but I´m not familiar with it...hmmm, lets see if I can find someone who helps me with this

Unfortunately it won't. I set up a test case and even gave them Gue and Cmn every turn but to no avail. Hex editing is the only way to go.

I finally got around to trying hex editing to create barbarian partisans. I gave them the proper techs to no avail. When you go into the barbarian map view, you can generate their tech report; it shows them with no techs and researching bronze working.

Has anyone actually gotten this to work?
