  • Picture search, something else...

and I am looking for the Fairey Albatross and Fulmar. If anyone could tell me where to find pictures of these, I'd really appreciate it. BTW here's a screenshot of my scenario! See if yu can guess what it is of (though you probably can ). And concerning that: how do I put my cities, terrain1, terrain2, and units into bitmap? I put it through Paint and I lose color variety for the units and for terrain1 the "triangle effect" showed up in the game with the terrain squares. Is there anyway to fix this with Paint?

    Just a guess, but . . .

is the shot a depiction of the HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Repulse getting attacked by Japanese "Nell" land-based bombers after attempting to intercept a Japanese landing further up the Malayan penninsula?

IIRC, if you have FW/MGE, and then use the terrain editor to alter even a single terrain type, the result is a bmp in the scenario folder labeled, "Terrain1" (or 2, whichever one you change.)

        you help me...I help you

        Hmmmm....

I had no problem with the Fairey Fulmar, but I can't even find the Albatross. Are you sure you don't mean the Albacore?

If not, I can keep looking...

Yeah man, here is a good list of British WWII aircraft, and I don't see any Albatross. There is a Grumann Albatross that I've passed by on other sites. It is a seaplane, so maybe that's what you mean, but it is for the US, so prolly not? Let me know if you need more...

I just tried the putting terrain into bitmap, but the game editor won't let me save it in anything other than GIF! Any other suggestions? Am I doing something wrong?

Looking nice ANZAC. But in the final version don't forget to include to destroyers which accompnied the Prince of Wales & Repulse. Interestingly, despite their generally appaling attitute to prisoners, the Japanese deliberatly spared the destroyers so they could pick up survivors from the two battleships (which is more then then Australian and American pilots did in similar circumstances)

Re, the losing detail, I used to get this on my old computer when windows display details differed from those used on the various gif's and bmp's I downloaded. Basically, paint wasn't able to display all the colours, and chose the 'next best' (eg purple for dark blue).

                  I'm mystified!

I own MGE, and whenever I use an editor to change a unit, terrain, icon, or improvement, it always produces a bmp file in the scenario's folder. In the specific scenario's folder, not the Scenario folder that holds all the MGE and FW scenarios. The gif is still there, and if it's necessary to start over for some reason, deleting the created bmp and going from scratch with the original gif is always an option. Which version of civ2 are you using?

                  Curiously,

Case: I know I forgot the destroyer escorting them, but I just took a minute last night to post it so the crowds don't get restless about when the scenario will be ready. In fact they might be after me right now.....

Exile: I have both FW and MGE, but I'm making the scenario on FW so everyone can play it. I'll try on MGE the bitmap thing and let you know how it goes.

                      here's an idea...

I'll convert your stuff to .bmp's if you convert my stuff to .gif's (none of my programs will make those for me).

Give it a shot with MGE though, as I have noticed it will make the auto-bmp's for me.

I figured out how to save (the disc button I thought was for saving, instead of importing) and now I have all that I need...except for the units.bmp which still is giving me color trouble.

FMK: I'll take you up on your offer for the units.bmp, and I'm pretty sure I can do GIFs. As a matter of fact, if you have paint and a reliable GIF file (like from another scenario) you can paste into it and do save as and you get a high-quality GIF. Thanks FMK, I'll send you the Units when I've finalized them.

So I still need somebody to convert the BMP for me. Maybe Case or Darthveda? I've seen your bitmaps and their color quality is high yet they are only 256 color MAybe you could take a look at my Units.bmp?

I'm no expert on pictures in Civ2, but send the file over & I'll have a try.

What does you guys' pc use to read gifs with? Mine reads them with IE rather than MSpaint. I am looking fo rthe place on my computer to set up what type of program to use when opening certain files.
When I copy something from a .bmp, and then open a .gif and attempt to paste the image in, the paste(ctrl-V) is disabled. I cannot work with .gifs for some reason. I can open them, and save them as .gifs only when they are .gifs to begin with. This means that I can't alter .gifs on my own, and I have to send out all of my stuff to be converted. What a pain in the arse!

                              I want .gif capability!
