  • Covering the Map

I'm currently developing a scenario with a colonial theme, but have hit somewhat of a snag. I used one of the players to build a whole lot of cities, them improved them, then used CivCity to turn them to Barbarian cities. However, when I then used the 'Cover Map' option so that player wouldn't have the whole Barbarian map, there was still a single diamond where each Barbarian city was placed in the darkness (though the cities were invisible). How do I cover the Barbarian city locations for that player?

If you are putting units in these barb cities, their sight will make the adjoining tiles viewable,
or even better, make sure it is a unit with '2 x times view'.

    What to do:
Press 'y' (view everything mode) before placing these barb units, place the unit and then enter the barb cities,
and click the city on the resource map as you would with a normal city.

The computer will automatically place workers to the now revealed tiles.

The problem is that the player still controls those squares. You need to place a unit of a different side in that square if you really want to cover it.

        Oops!

I thought Patine meant revealing the tile shutdown that happens when you cover the map.

        My bad!

        On the topic:

I have found that cities will die if all surrounding tiles are hidden from use.

Thanks kindly for your help; it did work, as you said. I'll be out of the loop for several days, maybe even more than a week, as my computer is in need of servicing. I'll talk to you all then.
