All right, I've just played a full game as Latvia in 2 hours or so. I think I'll try a more active nation next time. The Germans rolled over the Soviets very early in my game and I just sat there doing nothing.

It's more or less the same way as EU2 was. (ie. it has some very glaring problems - which will be fixed - but it is still a good game none-the-less)
I played an interesting game as the USSR where I acted as the main protagonist instead of germany. I went and conquered the mid-east and parts of asia, and was eating my way through nationalist china when germany and Japan delcared war on me. The interesting thing is, Germany conquered Poland and the netherlands without any intervention form the allies or anyone else. It was 1942 when they declared war on me, and I was fighting the Axis all by myself. I was doing pretty well fending them off, even managed to annex a couple of the minors in the Axis... untill those evil finns took advantage of a good opportunity to get their land back and opened a fourth front. Soviet Demand for Consumers Goods is ridiculous ;=)
In the 1936 Scenario I took all the starting troops to the Asian Front (opened by.. me :=) ) the Asian Troops are no Match even for your nonupgraded tanks&stuff..
also you need the Commanders XP.
in the Maenwhile I ordered Industrie in every country below 5 IC and disbanded the Airforce.
Production set to Zero all send into R&D (Artillery&Infantry mainly)
BTW: Its shorter to redeploy Troops than to let them Walk through the uhm not so good Infrastructure.
Its nice to paly aCountry selfsufficent in Oil,Steel And Coal :=)
I second on teh Eeeevil Finns.Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!

Some have noted that the Soviet demand for Consumer Goods plummets the minute they go to war with Germany.Blog | Civ2 Scenario League | leo.petr at gmail.com

Supply?
Well you can out it down to ~10 (only some infantry)
put every oilsucking machine into pool also the supply-sucking 'Airforce'.
Or do it as i do frequently.. disband/put in ReservePool ever Unit you have :=)
Upgrade All ICs which are below 3/5Ics => one hard year with only 30-40 Ics for research (or building)
but then industry begins rolling :=)Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!

The 1936 scenario as it stands is broken, even with the patch 1.01. It will be necessary to get "Bolt's" mod to play with a decent challenge. Check out paradox's forums for details.
I'm still playing as Germany and it is now January 1942. I have eliminated the UK and France. Most of western europe is under my rule as well as Poland in the east. Hungary, Romania, Italy, and Bulgaria are all part of the axis powers. Japan was refusing my frequent requests to join the axis powers and then went and started war with the UK. Now the option to bring Japan into the axis alliance is gone. I guess they are their own entity battling the UK, or what's left of them.........signature not visible until patch comes out.
