You should play EU man. Especially EU2.

I dug the game soo much... mainly because it's realistic political image, balance of power, and the correct historical aspect.
My words are backed with hard coconuts.

The biggest down fall of the game is that MP is nonfunctional. The AI acts rather stupidly so fixing MP in 1.06 will make the game much more interesting.

I wish there was a way to split armies three ways in EU2.

You can split them into eight, and have a 3/8, 3/8 and 2/8 split, but it's not the same.

Just use the reorganize button and you can split or change your armies in any way you like.

I'm lurking here once in a while, just to see if anyone still plays this game. Apparently not, or else this wouldn't be such a spamfest here . On topic, I gave the game 2 shots without succeeding to get addicted. I'll give it a third after 1.06 is out and if it's the same, it goes to ebay.

Btw Oerdin, PtW MP seems to work now, it got good marks from the online gamers so far. Alas, for time and firewall issues I won't play online, but PBEM at any time.

Ralph, I'm heading to the local malll today to take a look at the After Thanksgiving day sales which are going on. I'll probably end up picking up a copy of PtW and if I'm lucky it will be on sale.

On topic: I have high hopes for 1.06 because Paradox spent so much money on HOI, which uses the same engine as EU2, hopefully some of those new additions can be used to improve EU2. I'm most hopeful that the MP will be made more stable because playing other humans will make up for a poor AI.

But it's so slow and tedious, especially with large armies.

I just split an army into 2 or 4. Its easier.

What if you defeat an enemy's main army and there are three provinces you want to seige?

Just reorganize the army into thirds. Mostly I save my cavalary for attack and defense while infantry & cannon get to do the siege work. Plus my style of play is normally to have long periods of peaceful building puncuated with brief, well planned, flurries of violence so I will normally have all my armies pre-made and pre-positioned before the war.

Keep the fourth army in reserve.

Hmm. What if you split the fourth army into four, and move three to supplement the other three keeping the remainder as reserve?

If I have leaders in my army, then I must split it to gain their full effect. Reorganising them doesn't work.

EU2 a great game, but it's too long. What do you do
in 1680 after building manufactores in every province.
                            and annexing/vassalizing most of europe

World conquest seems to loom as a long painful mirco
management campaign of stability building and rebel
                            repression.

I always seem to quit about 1700.

Maybe world conquest seems like a real plague,
but there are some great scenarios too!

I, dug the game... So i've played GC twice, until 1820.
But now I dig the shorter scenarios.
