      Why is the game 25% more expensive if you buy it in euros, though? Or are they not paying/including VAT for the games they sell to US citizens? (I couldn't switch to USD when I registered to their service, I figure I should live in the States to be able to do that )

        There is no VAT in the US. That is likely the main price difference.

            we pay (in most states) sales taxes, which are imposed by states, vary by state, and are at point of sale (retail) only. There was talk a few years ago about a federal VAT, perhaps associated with a flatter income tax. Dems dislike the regressive aspects of it, and GOP wants to be known as the party against ANY new taxes, so it died.

            Our Canadian neighbors have a VAT of course. ISTR that if you paid VAT while traveling in Canada, you could file for a rebate (to encourage Yanks to buy stuff, I guess) This proved a pain when traveling on business, as they wanted original receipts, the same original receipts my accounting dept insisted on getting to reimburse for travel expenses.

              It seems they didn't work the trade system over. All we need to make it work better is set a BUY price and a SELL price simultaneously so natural oscillations are evened out without me having to check in regularly.

                Paradox seems to start off with games that require a lot of micro management then after a few sequals and expansion packs they turn into really cool games. Compare the original HOI vs HOI2: DD. Or even EU1 vs EU2 vs the soon to be released EU3.

                  That single change alone would be huge for me. It would greatly simplify the micromanagement. Well, we'd still have to worry about moving thousands of pops around but at least the trade issue would be more or less solved.

                    Also, let us offer higher prices than market standard in case of rare goods... in late game there never is enough sulfur to feed my armament inustry, even though I'd be willing to pay a higher price

                        Alright, after a couple of hours, here are my experiences so far.

                        I the system under laissez-faire/interventionist economies, where the capitalists build stuff if/when they have the money. No longer am I bilking my POPs for all their money, since there's actually a point in letting them get wealth. I've yet to be in debt so far and have been able to dedicate my money to the military, promoting and certain corrective measures like expanding factories when needed. Rich POPs aren't taxed at all and tariffs are at around 5%.

                        The colony system seems very thought out, although I haven't had much chance to test it out yet because I play Prussia. The first war I'll be engaged in is coming soon, so we'll see if there's anything significant there.

                        The manual was pretty decently written and allowed me to freshen up on my basics. There's no tutorial for Revolutions, at least I didn't notice one in the menu.

                        I've yet to decide if this was worth the 10 euros or not, but I was happy to pay it just to show that there's still love for Victoria in the playerbase.

                            Yeah, that was one reason I always kept tariffs and taxes high, because the money didn't seem to end up in their pockets anyway. My capitalists have several grand each and are splurging them on infra and just the kind of factories I need.
