    1. Well I can either fight the Dutch aggressively, or hold the army together in Brussels. IIUC the London treaty will most likely grant me independence anyway, so theres not much reason to fight. OTOH this is the kind of gaminess i dont like. So fight anyway, but not raise new troops?

    2. I take it to get more manpower to form divisions, i need to turn workers into soldiers, and then WAIT. Plus defense spending plays a role. And mobilization. It all leaves me somewhat confused. Also, if my existing divisions are understrength, does the game automatically funnel replacements to them from my manpower pool? It seems that the divisions are more than the arbitrary groupings of troops EU2 units were. Is that so?

    3. It seems starting out I dont have enough coal and iron to supply all my factories, let alone any new steel making capacity I want. So im inclined to expand coal and iron output immediately. OTOH those are inexpensive commodities, and it might be better to import and build factories faster. But having Belgium as a coal and iron importer seems gamey to me.

    1. Do fight, if you are fast enough you might get some provinces? Don't remember how fast the event comes.

    2. Manpower is gained as you say. What you do is to set defence at max, wait until the counter resets to 0(you probably had a negative number) and then convert a pop. The bigger pop, the more manpower. The more pops, the faster the manpower grows. The growth goes down when you use manpower. Mobilization doesn't work together with the others per se IIRC, what it does is converting pops into troops directly. You have to restrenght the units yourself. The troops system is more complex than EU2, it has more troops types and the improvements you can build with the units, like engineer and such, gives important bonuses.

    3. I'd say expand your supplies, you will earn on it in the long term and get a better economy from the start. Importing is unreliable and expensive. But I'm no expert, there might be a combination is better?

      now for politics.

      I start with the conservatives in power. The majority of the electorate (limited by wealth) is liberal. But Im a const monarchy, HM's govt, so I dont have to call an election if i dont want to. Right? IIUC, the only reason to call an election would be to change ruling parties? Like say I want to decrease social spending or cut tariffs more then the interventionist and protectionist policies of the Cons allowed? And the only reason to change the electoral law, would be if i THEN wanted to change and bring the consies back (assuming the lower class pops still lean Cons at that point) (also I keep some groups happier by having their ideology in power, so i can manage militancy that way)

        Don't attack Prussia or France.

        Then again, you can attack Prussia because they never do anything to protect the Rhine provinces

          Im not attacking anyone now, mainly just trying to get the hang of the economic system.
