        • I'm sure my laptop will make it too. 1 GB RAM and A Turion64 X2 1.6(or 1.7) GHZ processor. It's brand new for one and isn't the "real" GHz higher since it's a dual processor?

          • It boggles my mind as to why EU2 will require Pixelshader 2.0, given that the graphics are so awful.

              • It does. But Tassie, have you seen the latest screens, political as geographic? They're looking great now. And still there are going to be some minor tweaks, but the map is mostly done.

                  • I suspect you won't like them, but I think they look good enough.

Anyway, here's two from wednesday's dev diary:

This is a screen showing colonization:

Here's the a screen showing trade areas. The lines show where your country are denied trading rights:

                      • I agree with you that is looks good. But Tassie here has made it his mission to be negative to it.

                        • Those are not that great IMHO. Another reason not to go 3d-it dosnt look pretty if you dont make a huge effort.

Have you seen oblivion? latest tomb raider? Latest unreal tournament?? Age of Empires 3? Even older stuff like warcraft 3 has better looks than that. Those screenies look like civ4 level of graphics.

Its just a marketing gimmick for most games, because you cant sell it to publishers if it isnt the ''ooh 3d!'' Even if it does look better than EU2, granted. But i suspect behind the decent graphics is only a decent game, similar to civ4, because the effort going to graphics has to come out of the budget for other stuff.

The screenies are not bad, but you cant use them as a big pro point for the game, because they are not THAT good.
if you want to stop terrorism; stop participating in it

''Oh,Commissar,if we could put the potatoes in one pile, they would reach the foot of God''.But,replied the commissar,''This is the Soviet Union. There is no God''.''Thats all right'' said the worker,''There are no potatoes''

                          • And then again the graphics is not the point of the game, as it is in games like Oblivion and UT. The thing is, the old engine was more then 6 years old, and clearly lacking. Paradox had to make a new engine anyway, so why not make it 3D? It's not like 3D=bad, like someone is saying.

                            • Why make it 3D if you can't make it look decent? Especially since the graphics aren't a point And the only reason to update the engine should be for gameplay reasons.
