  • I've played that ww2 game of EU serie

The first game, I've made a mistake and started with normal difficulty settings.
I've played as Poland. It ended with a complete defeat
Poland had no chances, I knew that. Too many boarder provinces to defend.
So I picked France with lowest difficulty settings.
Well, I welcomed ww2 with a system of fortresses over my Belgian boarders, because I expected German attack there. I didn't manage to save Belgium, and after some time the front line was broken in Sedan (ironic, isn't it) and by the second part of 1941, the only point I had in continental Europe was heroic Toulon, successfully defending against all German attacks.
I could try to carry on, but instead, I picked France again.
It was somewhat better this time. Again I didn't manage to save Belgium; first eastern province I've lost early, then Belgium after a great combat much much later on and then I didn't even try to defend the third line, but retreated to earlier prepaired fortifications along the boarders. I managed to hold them,
and produced a tank force of 20 for attack. I decided to use it against Italy, however, and took entire Libya.
My other forces saved earlier Egypt from being taken by Italy, and I successfully defended Indochina against Japaneese. My naval forces crushes Italian and made way for British conquest of it.
However, I was rather disappointed with my allies. I waited for help from them, but they preferred invading Bulgaria instead. Then I waited for a relief - 1941 German-Soviet war. But it did not happen! Germany only invaded USSR in late 1942 and after initial successes Soviets marched triumphally as far as Bremen.
Me, I just managed to liberate two Belgian provinces.

So, I decided to play USSR. It was going swell, though I've commited one serious mistake - I didn't notice the rebellion part of the game until it reached 80%....
in 1941 war with Germany, I managed to take a province of two, but in another place my front-line was broken.
Not wanting to risk a defeat, I restarted.
Its lyear 1939/1940 now and I have a dillema: should I attack Germany now, before they finish the conquest of France, by which I'll force them to fight on two fronts,
or should I wait till 1941, to prepare myself, but also letting them move all of their forces to the east?

I like tech exchange in the game. I found it so touching that Oman or Yemen send me techs... I always replied with the same.
As USRR, I'm pomping Mongolia with knowledge, but it's a pit without a bottom

I really like the game, though I'm not good at it. Since I've got it from a friend 5 days ago, I'm going to bed for 3-4 hours a day only due to it

I'm currently playing as the Soviets as well Heresson. You can read over a bit of what has happened here. I did declare war on Germany first, while they were troubling with Norway. I couldn't help myself. Part of me wanted to hold out until they DOW'ed me, so I could produce moreadvanced units. But, like you, I wanted to take advantage of Germany's preoccupation with other fronts.

Let us know how it turns out.

I have a question. Can I pick option: give maximum strenght or whatever to more than one unit at a time?
In general: can I pick more than one unit at a time?

Poland can beat the Germans pretty easily in HoI2. Just attack in 1936 and over run them while they're weak. Of course you'll have to Robespierre a few goverment sliders to that but...

If you've got 12 divsions merged into one corps, you can reinforce them at one time. It all depends on how many units are merged together. If it's just one division, then you can only reinforce that one, at that moment.

While you can merge units together, its very important if it is HO2 to make sure you look at the rank of the commanding officer- if you give a commander more divisions than they can handle, the additional divisions lose 75% of their effectiveness.

A Major General can command 1 division
A Lt. General can command 3 divisions
A General can command 9 divisions
A Field Marshall can command 12 divisions

Did the game you buy come with a manual? Cause it is important to know how the game works. Also, how much attention were you paying to your IC?

I find the game as the Soviets if began in 1936 extremely easy, if you spend the first few years building IC and INfrastructure like crazy- by 1939 you arte an industrial behemoth.

As France on the easiest setting (with aggression normal) I conquered Germany within 3 months of the declaration of war (having began in 1936 to set up a new modern army).

Also, which things you research are important- i think having modern infantry and artillery are very important, fighting with good tanks but with 1936 infantry divisions in 1940 is not that wise.

This is the same as in HO1. Is this penalty greater in HOI2?

The penalty is huge in HoI2. The AI actually does a decent job of stacking units and selecting the right commanders but it just blows when it comes time to deciding to promote people or not. I've seen the AI promote commanders who have 90+ EXP where as if they just waited a month or so they'd have gotten +1 to skill.
