Yeah, the Mekong would not have been worth the sums I would have had to spent to raise and maintain armies. My new Indonesian colonies give me more money by far.

As for global dominance-I want to spend my last few years being an aggressive power-up to now I have been relatively peacefull, given the times. I do want to pick on a small man and beat him silly- Portugal that is-I want to take Goa, her African colonies, and eat a large chunk of Brazil for my own.

Well, for another smaller updated. Before picking on Portugal, I wanted to wait to build conscription centers-so while I waited to get to land tech 41, I explored some more, discovering Rabaul, Most of New Guinea, New Zealand and Australia, all of which are empty. I also explored and begun a small colony on Helena (Napoleon can stay at my hotels later on, I guess).

I built my conscription centers and new fleets and then saw Portugal was sutck fighting a nasty battle with an India state, all of which are as advanced as European statesso I decided to take advantage and went to war. I must say I was not prepared for the tenor of Portugese naval forces: I won every battle being about 20 sea techs ahead, but it was just very annoying to have 7 windows pop up telling me the portuguese attacked, I beat them, they attacked, I beat them and so forth. The war went well: my forces in the bayou beat back all assaults-an army portugal landed on my mainland for some reason was eliminated, and I took Goa. Eventually, after firt making my landing fleet retreat (simply for having to have fought about 14 battles in a line), I landed forces in Angola and took all three provinces and the small CoT there. I decided I would not keep the war going to take Brazil.

So, with Goa and Angola now mine, I did more exploring-I explored California, Oregon and the English colonies there, and Alaska as well as Hawaii. I even begun a colony to control the gold mines of Monterrey.

Then the game decided I was doing too well. All of a sudden about 20 pop-ups come up-with the final, visible one giving me the simple message: China is in Civil War. Well, GOODY. I look back and see several of my provinces are now rebel held, as are several colonies. And a couple of large armies had switched sides. I spend the next 3 years (right up to the time I had to save and go) fighting the rebels, taking back colonies-fighting a couple of massive battles, including one in which 65,000 of my men relieved the siege of my capital by 55,000 rebels. I guess ships don;t rebel, so the entire fleet remained mine, which gives me a large advantage in terms fo getting back my far flung empire back in control.

I've almost finished GC as China. It was really hard for a long time. I had to make vassals out of everything I've conquered. At least it was easier to research technology. But my plans of conquering Middle East were doomed
