  • Strange AI tactics

I've been playing Independance scenario, Silesia.
My state at the time was Silesia, Kuestrin, Brandenburg,
Vorpommern, Erz; I was also allied with Kuiavia. I've been attacked by three states, no matter which. I had only 1 big army and could not face them all, obviously. My ally tried and its army was soon completely destroyed. But AI didn't seem to wish conquer me. it had better plans. it began marching on my territories and backing off immediately. I was quite suprised at first, but eventually I realised I could win the war pretty easily. I just moved my strong army over the border. My enemies never attacked with full strenght, so I could easily win battles with them. After two states were "forced" to sign peace with me, I begane playing that way with the third. It offerd me its only non-capital province finally, though i never attacked it in fact. Perhaps it is not as starnge as when I was playing Turkey and all of a sudden Columbia begged me for peace offering a trade point in South America. I didn't know I am at war with it, never fought against it, bah, S.America was not visible on my map...

I've never even heard of that scenario.

I think its called Independent Europe. Every province starts as an independent country - for those who like EU2 rules and gameplay, but dont want the history so much, and want to play with everyone even, I think.

Sounds like the BB wars will start early in that one.

You only get BB wars on the higher diff levels, so you can easily avoid them.

Isn't that kind of like cheating?

Cheating, to play on lower levels? You gotta be kidding me... I always play on lower/middle levels, 1) because I hate the concept of BB war, or rather how it's implemented, and 2) because I am more of a mediocre player in skills anyway.

If youre playing on a low level cause youre not good, or cause you really dont like the features at the higher levels thats one thing. If you acknowledge the game balancing rationale for something like BB wars, and just dont want it to get in the way of your World conquest, I think that might be cheating.

Im playing on normal, and am trying to avoid high BB points, so im not sure how bad it gets on difficult.

Actually LOTM, a WC is much easier with BB wars, it's actually somewhat a prerequisite.
