I tend to use Normal/Normal or near that. I really hate the concept of BB wars, so the decision is easy.Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.-Isaiah 41:10

Oh, it's annoying indeed, so on highest levels, I'm using different tactics than on normal ones. I create buffor vassal states, keep them strong and allied with me. That way, even when I'm doing hopeless, often I can end the war without any losses."I realise I hold the key to freedom,

Just keep in mind that human led alliances can only contain up to five (IIRC) countries, so having more than four vassals won´t add to your military strength. Also those filthy vassals need tons of money to be kept at hand, for they revoke their vassalship far too easily IMO...
I always make them cede me provinces and make them vassals, then try to diploannex (if possible). If it works, fine, if not, well, then they usually cancel their vassalation and you got a casus belli on themHeinrich, King of Germany, Duke of Saxony in Cyclotron's amazing Holy Roman Empire NES
