The funny thing about that game was that Japan never declared war.

On other news, HoI 2 DD rocks
I just short of conquered the world with the Soviet Union... too lazy to reach australia and new zealand, was three province short of annexing south africa (I forgot my troops there when the assault on America began) and had all of america either puppeted or annexed. I decided to call it quits when I hit the 'annex' button on the US diplomacy screen (normal / aggressive)Indifference is Bliss

Conquering the world playing a great power is fun. More fun is to conquer great powers with underdogs.
Go Nationalist China
Today I served a young lady from "Republic of China". The script on her passport read "zhong hua min guo" in hanzi which had me puzzled at first, I had expected "zhong hua renmin gong he guo". Then I understood. And nodded.

It's a powerhouse with nearly unlimited human resources.
You should try Greece, Yugoslavia or Bulgaria to get the picture about counquering the world with underdogs.

They start out with almost 0 industry. Of course once you build them up you can get going well, but you have to survive Japanese aggression.
I understand there are smaller nations that are part of the European struggle and much harder to play.
But still... ever managed to outresearch the tech tree playing Naitonalist China? Ever produced a Nationalist Chinese nuke? No you haven't

I did not understand. Care to elaborate?
Republic of China is the official name of the old Chinese state that survived the civil war only on Taiwan, after all of mainland China had been conquered by the Reds. In the 70s diplomatic relations of most western countries switched to Red China, so the Republic of China is now just known as Taiwan.
When I saw her passport I associated it with mainland China rather than Taiwan. Forget about the Chinese talk.

You'd have to conquer India from the Brits playing China t do that. At the moment I'mwondering why I've never done that. The Germans always conquer all of Europe usually so it shouldn't be hard to do.
Hell, even when the Germans start their war against the USSR very early, they often manage to outproduce them and reconquer poland after some insecure months. I've seen red advance well into the East of Germany (Prussia, Silesia) and yet a German victory in the end. Something's wrong with the game

I've not bought doomsday because fighting on after 1945 doesn't interest me. Have they done anything significant to the 1936-45 part of the tech tree? How about variable unit graphics so you can tell a PzII from a king tiger? To doubt everything or to believe everything are two equally convenient solutions; both dispense with the necessity of reflection.

I see no problem with kicking everyone arses playing as China. China has enourmous manpower - the most valuable resource in the game.

HOI2 didn't last long for me either but I bought it out of loyality to Paradox. It's hard to find a company that really supports their product with new patches years after it has stopped selling so I wanted to support them. That said I've spent most of my free time playing Doomday for the last week or so; my laptop is kind of old so I can only play low hardwear spec games like Doomday but I'm having fun. We'll see if I keep playing it after I get home.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

And probably much more.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.
